The BIG Question…

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

LASER• Monochromatic: All the same color • Coherent: Light waves are in the

same phase together • Power Concentration: 5 mw of

power but very concentrated—can go deeper and further

• Great for acupuncture channels.

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

LED LIGHT• Monochromatic: All the same color • Divergent: Light waves spread over

distance. • Power Concentration: 500 mw of

power, but diffuse so covers a larger area.

• Great for skin surface wounds, muscles, tendons, ligaments

CLINICAL EXPERIENCEACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

HISTORY• I turned 50. • New goal: Work smarter instead of harder. • I met this guy. • He had a vibrational therapy tool. I tried it. I

liked it. My patients loved it. It worked amazing for chronic pain related to Qi and Blood Stagnation.

• I wrote a book.

It’s the BEST tool I’ve ever found for Qi and Blood Stagnation!

Kimberly Thompson

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

QI AND BLOOD STAGNATIONACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

• If there is free flow, there is no pain • Treatment of the channel creates free flow • Blood stagnation starts at the superficial

level • As it progresses, it goes deep • It is easier to fix when it is acute

AKA: ETIOLOGY OF PAIN

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

CHRONIC BLOOD STAGNATION• Stubborn • Scar tissue • Adhesions • Inflammation • Decreased ROM • Leads to internal blockages

REGARDLESS…TREATMENT IS HARD• Takes a long time • Patient’s don’t always commit • Can be painful • Hard work for the practitioner

WOULDN’T IT BE NICEif you could get great results

without working so hard?

FASCIA: A MODERN LOOK AT ACUPUNCTUREA WESTERN PERSPECTIVE

• Body Exhibit • Continuum of fibrous connective tissue • Web-like structure—holds the body together

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

• Affects all body movement: muscles veins, nerves, lymph, neurological

• Made up of liquid pliable crystals that conductive electricity • Blockages—cause restriction throughout the body • Restrictions can be from scar tissue and adhesions

SCAR TISSUE VERSUS ADHESIONS

The Piezoelectric Effect: The ability of certain materials to generate an electric charge in response to applied mechanical stress. The word “Piezoelectric” is derived from the Greek piezein, which means to squeeze or press, and piezo, which is Greek for “push”.

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

A MODERN TCM PERSPECTIVE

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

• Fascia is a semi-conductor of electricity

• Transports electrical energy over long distances

• Any movement creates piezoelectric effect

• Stimulation of fascia with acupuncture needles creates movement

QI BLOOD CHANNELS DA QI

Dr. Andrew Taylor Still Founder of Osteopathy- 1874

“You can look at fascia to study the beginning and the end of the disease process If fascia tissue is free flowing, then systems of the body work well, while blockages in fascia tissue cause disease.”

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

A LOOK BACK IN TIME..

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

• The basis for osteopathic manipulation

• Rhythmic Vibration: Promotes circulation, removes restriction in fascia tissue

• High Velocity Low Amplitude Thrust: Forces blocked fascia tissue to release scar tissue and adhesions

QI BLOOD CHANNELS DA QI

Page 12: BECOMING A SPECIALIST€¦ · Scar Tissue • Normal healing process • Patching mechanism • Good Adhesions • Scar tissue gone wild • Connects multiple surfaces • Overtake

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

It seemed the theory behind vibrational therapy work was to find and remove “interferences” within the fascia structure to create an environment of free-flowing energy for optimal healing…

BACK TO THE VIBRATIONAL DEVICE…

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

What if I were able to jumpstart the flow of qi and blood in every acupuncture channel BEFORE I did an acupuncture treatment? Would I get better results when I performed acupuncture?

MY QUESTION…

A WORKING HYPOTHESIS: Using Rapid Release Technology before acupuncture treatment prepares the meridians, via stimulation of the fascia at specific acupuncture points, to produce better acupuncture results because of free-flowing qi.

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

Protocol: • Before each treatment • Back Shu Points • SI 11 and GB 21 • Lower Back Band—plus GB 29 and 30 • Lower leg—plus GB 34, BL 58, and SP 9 • Treatment took 5-7 minutes

CLINICAL EXPERIMENTATION (3 MONTHS)

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

• They loved it • Relaxing • They all said it was “wonderful”

PATIENTS’ RESPONSE

Page 13: BECOMING A SPECIALIST€¦ · Scar Tissue • Normal healing process • Patching mechanism • Good Adhesions • Scar tissue gone wild • Connects multiple surfaces • Overtake

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

• 180 treatments over 3 months • Most patients received RRT multiple times • Six week normals turned into 4 weeks as the normal • Wellness patients (monthly) came in on month two with less symptoms, and

normal CC pain levels were down • Liver Qi and Blood Stagnation patients experienced less pain with needling • Non-needle patients got better results with RRT than typical treatment • Long-term patients with chronic shoulder pain conditions, did better with

RRT included than acupuncture alone

CLINICAL RESULTS

It is my experience that Rapid Release therapy is an effective way to move qi in the acupuncture meridians without needles. Adding this modality before acupuncture treatment seems to bring better results than a stand-alone acupuncture treatment.

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

CONCLUSION

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

• A new tool in my tool box • A book • A technique • An exploding clinic • A Goal Reached: I’m working

smarter instead of harder

WHAT CAME NEXT?

HOW TO USE RAPID RELEASE TECHNOLOGY

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

• Intended Use: Qi and Blood Stagnation (aka relaxing muscles and relieving minor aches and pains)

• Specifications: 155 Hz +- 10%

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

NOTEWORTHY: • RRT runs at a frequency of about

150 Hz.

• This frequency is VERY similar to the resonant frequency of scar tissue (147 Hz), discovered by Dr. Paul Nogier in 1972.

Page 14: BECOMING A SPECIALIST€¦ · Scar Tissue • Normal healing process • Patching mechanism • Good Adhesions • Scar tissue gone wild • Connects multiple surfaces • Overtake

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

• Immediate palpable differences in tough, fibrous, blood-stagnation-related symptoms

• Other practitioners claim chronic pain and limited ROM due to scar tissue and adhesions in the fascia tissue significantly decrease with treatment

PRACTITIONER EXPERIENCE

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

• Other practitioners are using it—chiro, PT, etc

• They are getting good results • You will get BETTER results

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

1. Choose the head the works best 2. Focus on the area of pain, then move outward to the surrounding areas of

tendons, muscles and ligaments 3. Treat for 2-3minutes 4. Treat every 1-2 days to resolve qi and blood stagnation

BASIC TREATMENT OF LOCAL PAIN

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

• Pick what works best • Easy over the clothes • The big one gets warm • Don’t Push: Let the device do

the work!

Just Pick ONE…

• AcuGraph Treatment • Back Shu: Full-Body Meridian Balancing

STEP 1: ROOT TREATMENT

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

• A: Where is the pain? • Pick 1-2 TMM channels where the patient has pain • Stimulate the channel—begin distally. • Add so me focus into the dark areas—qi and blood gathers in

these areas • B: Treat a few points in the NEXT channel in the Energy Cycle • C: Treat ASHI at the area of pain

STEP 2: BRANCH TREATMENTThe branch treatment has THREE parts…

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

A: Where is the Pain? • Pick 1-2 TMM channels where the

patient has pain • Stimulate the channel—begin

distally, focus on limbs and trunk • Add some focus into the dark areas

—qi and blood gathers in these areas

Note: You can see all muscular channels in AcuGraph

ACUPUNCTURE TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

B: Treat a few points in the NEXT channel in the Energy Cycle • Example: If you have pain on the GB muscular

channel, treat a few points on the LR channel.
