At Hannover Messe Beckhoff presents a technology highlight: CP-Link 4 – the new connection technology for remote panel opera-tion over distances of up to 100 m from the Industrial PC. With this one cable solution video signals, USB and power supply are transferred via a standard CAT 7 cable. Cable and assem-bly costs are reduced.

CP-Link 4 – The Two Cable Display LinkThe CP29xx-0010 multi-touch built-in panels and the CP39xx-0010 multi-touch panels for mounting arm installation can be operated up to 100 m away from the PC. CP-Link 4 – The Two Cable Display Link – transfers DVI and USB together via a CAT 7 cable. The CU8802 CP-Link 4 sender box is connected to the PC via DVI and USB, or else the C9900-E276 PCIe module for CP-Link 4 is installed in the PC.

CP-Link 4 – The One Cable Display LinkThe power supply for the Control Panel can also be provided via CP-Link 4 – The One Cable Display Link. The CU8803 CP-Link 4 sender box is used instead of the CU8802 or the PCIe module. The Control Panel remains unchanged. The CU8803 sender box provides power to the Control Panel via the CAT 7 cable, which also transfers DVI and USB. The power supply socket of the panel is not used.

The CX2000 Embedded PC series offers high fl ex-ibility on the DIN rail with multi-core processors and modular PC and I/O interfaces. As new items fi eldbus modules extend the CX2000 series. The PROFIBUS and CANopen interfaces in master or slave variant are connected to the CPU module via PCI Express. The parallel operation of several identical or different masters is possible. TwinSAFE EtherCAT Terminal with potential-free contacts

The EL2964 digital output terminal has three simultaneously switching, normally open, potential-free contacts. The two internal relays are activated over Safety over EtherCAT. They are internally monitored. If the TwinSAFE Terminal detects a fault, it switches to safe state (fail safe). The EL2964 conforms to the requirements of IEC 61508 SIL 3 and DIN EN ISO 13849 PLe.

TwinSAFE Controller integrates safety functions in a compact housing The new EK1960 TwinSAFE Controller integrates a complete safety controller including numerous I/O channels in a compact design. It combines an EtherCAT Coupler, TwinSAFE PLC, digital inputs and outputs. Primarily designed for applications with a small and medium scope of safety, the EK1960 can be used as an autonomous control-ler or as a decentralized controller. The EK1960 integrates:

TwinCAT 3.1 (see page 11) enables management of TwinCAT licences alternatively with the EL6070 licence key terminal or the C9900-L100 licence key USB stick. The EL6070 is used as hardware licence key in the modular EtherCAT I/O system. Both licence key variants offer secure private/public key encryption. They can be used for secure data encryption via the PLC or C++ interfaces.

Licence key for TwinCAT 3.1

16-channel digital output with diagnostics

The EL2819 EtherCAT Terminal and KL2819 Bus Terminal each have 16 digital output channels for the switching of 24 V DC loads up to 0.5 A. The integrated diagnostics can be evaluated by the controller and indicated by the LEDs. Overtemperature and the lack of a voltage supply to the terminal are supplied as diagnostic information. Moreover, each of the channels can signal e.g. a short circuit.

Display terminal with navigation switch and operating hours counter

The EL6090 display terminal has an illumi-nated, low-refl ection LC display with two lines of 16 characters. If the output text is longer than 16 characters, the terminal auto-matically switches to scrolling text mode. The terminal can be used, for example, for displaying status messages or diagnostic information (e.g. piece counters, network addresses). A non-resettable operating hours counter is integrated and can be displayed and also read out via the controller.

Pressure measurement in the IP 67 system

The EP3744-0041 EtherCAT Box, equipped with six digital inputs, two digital outputs and four pneumatic inputs, acquires these signals and transmits them – electrically isolated – to the controller. The digital signals are connected via 4-pin M8 plug connectors. The pneumatic signals are connected via the integrated 6-mm fi ttings. Input 5 is used as measuring reference for the pressure measuring. The pres-sure values are available as 16-bit values. Measurement can be made up to 1 bar, with the value being output in relation to the measuring reference, e.g. for vacuum measurement in relation to the ambient pressure at suction grippers.

Power distribution for EtherCAT Box modules with current measure-ment/data logging

The EP9224-0023 enables connec-tion of four EtherCAT Box power supply branches. In each 24 V branch the current consumption for the control voltage US and the peripheral voltage UP is monitored, limited, and, if necessary, switched off. The input voltage and current values of all out-puts can be evaluated via the process data. A continuous data log of the relevant data can be retrieved when an error occurs in order to localise the cause of the error.

Ethernet Switch in IP 67

The CU2608 Ethernet Switch offers eight D-coded M12 Ethernet ports. It relays incoming Ethernet frames to the destination ports with 10/100 Mbaud. In full duplex mode, it prevents collisions. The IP 67 plastic housing in compact design enables easy on-site installation.

AM8100 | Servomotors for OCT servo terminalThe servomotors from the AM8100 series are suitable for operation on the EL7201-0010 servo terminal and can be equipped with the One Cable Technology (OCT). Homing is no longer necessary thanks to the integrated absolute encoder. The encoder data are transferred fully digitally to the servo terminal via the motor cable, allowing the encoder cable to be dispensed with. Options such as a backlash-free permanent magnet holding brake, a rotary shaft seal or a feather key groove are available on request. The motors are equipped with a sturdy rotary resolver encoder and have been developed with a generously dimensioned bearing for general mechanical engineering.

AM8000/AM8500 | Synchronous Servomotors with forced coolingThe servomotor series offer high torques in the forced cooling version even at high speeds. Cooling takes place with a 24 V DC fan, which is actuated independently of the motor. Thanks to the external axial ventila-tion of the servomotors, the power density is thus increased further: the standstill torques can be increased by about 30 %; the rated torques at

the rated speed even by up to 150 %. The forced cooling option is available for the following sizes:

AM8500 | Servomotors with increased rotor moment of inertiaThe AM8500 series extends the servomotor range by a complete series with increased rotor moment of inertia. The AM8500 series covers a wide performance range with four sizes and three lengths with standstill torques from 1.38 to 29 Nm. Due to the high rotor inertia the control of the AM8500 is simplifi ed in areas where a high external inertia has to be moved, because the servomotors tend less to vibrate and can be adjusted much more easily on the servo controller to the respective application.

Typical areas of application for the AM8500 servomotors are in wood-working machines, printing machines and machine tools as well as in fi lm winders and feeding drive units.

XTS: Software replaces complex mechanismsThe XTS drive system (eXtended Transport System) from Beckhoff offers completely new freedom for mechanical engineering.

XTS is a mechatronic system containing all functions neces-sary for operation. A modular, fully integrated linear motor with power electronics and displacement measurement in one device. A mover as the moved part. A mechanical guide rail. The most diverse applications can be realised with these few coordinated components. The desired geometries, lengths and radii are formed by the number and choice of the components. One or more wireless movers can be moved highly dynamically at up to 4 m/s on an almost arbitrary and fl exible path.

XTS offers increased fl exibility for machine construction. XTS can be used as standard hardware; new or additional functions – for example, in the case of a change of prod-uct – are implemented on a software basis.
