My Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ:

This letter accompanies the annual report for the 2016-2017 Catholic Services Appeal (CSA) through June 30, 2017. I continue to be humbled by the generosity and support of so many people towards our diocesan appeal. This year a record high was set with $5.9 million pledged from more than 22,000 families.

The theme for the 2016-2017 appeal was “Living Water” (Jn 4:14). The living water that Jesus gives is not something earned; it is a gift from God. When we encounter Jesus he o ers us living water. The CSA is an invitation to people and faith communities of Central Texas to participate in the Lord’s work — work that no one parish or individual can do alone.

Through the many ministries supported by the CSA, we come together as disciples of Christ to help those in need. Your gift supports vital diocesan ministries that include formation of our future priests, care for our retired priests, and formation and training for our deacons. And, your gift nourishes and educates our children and helps to strengthen each of our faith communities.

I am thankful for the fi nancial and prayerful support of those who contribute to the Catholic Services Appeal (CSA) each year. Your generosity is instrumental in assisting thousands of people. On behalf of those whose lives are improved through the Catholic Services Appeal — thank you. Your kindness means so much to me and to our entire diocesan family.

Gratefully in Christ,

Most Reverend Joe S. VásquezBishop of AustinMost Reverend Joe S. VásquezBishop of Austin
