This is my last president’s Report – where has the year gone? I would like to thank all the Committee for making my year
as President enjoyable. They have worked as a well oiled machine and the synergy has been outstanding. I’d also like to
express my appreciation to the other club members who have added so much through their enthusiasm – the Interest Group
Leaders, our Refreshments Officer, our Webmaster & last but not least our photographers who record our events for poster-
ity. THANK YOU all!
The year is still young but we already have a range of events that should cover most interests and budgets. This year we
even plan our first FIFO (Fly In, Fly Out) event to the Rock. How the club is maturing.
At the next meeting we will hold the AGM and I will hand over the reins to Lesley Dudgeon. She will take over a club full
of enthusiastic members which is on a sound financial base. I have every confidence that she will build on this to take the
club to even greater heights – Good Luck Lesley!
Also with the AGM, we lose Norris Dudgeon from the Committee. Norrie has been on the Committee since the club was
started. He was our first Newsletter Editor, then rose to President & now holds the club record as longest serving Immedi-
ate Past President. Norrie is moving aside to make room for new blood, but I cannot let him be put out to stud (he calls it
golf) without recognising his prodigious input, fine memory and ability to remind me of correct procedural process. Thank
you for all your time & effort Norrie.
I hope to catch you at a function or meeting soon.
Regards,
Allan

We thank the 71 members who joined us at our first outing for the year at The Sawmillers Restaurant. What a Venue – Food was fabulous – a lot of noise and happy faces – weather was cool. Where in Sydney can Seniors get mains at half price? Thank you to Allan for taking photos and Lesley for lining up everyone to sign on. We thank you for your support and we hope to see you in March at Cumber-land State Forest.

THEATRE REPORTS—
Ladies in Black at the Lyric Theatre January 18th
We set off in scorching heat from the west and were relieved that it was at least 10 degrees cooler in the city.
We had great seats near the front of the dress circle.
Ladies in Black is a refreshingly novel, home grown musical that is set in Sydney in 1959 - a era many of the Pro-bus members could relate to.
In my opinion the show is probably geared more towards a female audience as the story relates the loves and lives of 4 women working in a department store. The music and comic lyrics by Tim Finn kept us all entertained; we laughed a lot and resisted the temptation to sing along to “He’s a B.st..d”.
The show was a trip down memory lane, with the traditions and comparatively chauvinistic expectations of the late 1950’s.

Carole King’s ”BEAUTIFUL”
At the Lyric Theatre
Wednesday 27th September 2017 1:00 pm
BEAUTIFUL is the inspiring true story of King’s journey from school girl to superstar; from her relation-ship with husband and song-writing partner Gerry Goffin, their close friendship and playful rivalry with fellow song-writing duo Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, to her remarkable rise to stardom. Along the way, she became one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history, with countless classics such as (You Make Me Feel Like a) Natural Woman, I Feel the Earth Move, Take Good Care of My Baby, You’ve Got a Friend, So Far Away, One Fine Day, It’s Too Late, Tapestry and Locomotion. Pro-duction has already wowed audiences in Brisbane and Melbourne.
Payment due 25th July, 2017: Direct Debit BSB 032179 - A/c 305002 - Code: TB, Name, Amount $70

Calendar Girls at Pavilion Theatre February 15th
A group of W1 (Womens Institute) members band together to produce a calendar to raise funds for a local hos-pital. Hilarious scenes are created as each woman poses nude in a scenario based on a routine activitiy of the group such as knitting, cake baking, tea making and at the piano.
These nude scenes were so cleverly and tastefully constructed. Prior to each, the anticipation of the audience was such that it was audible but less so than the laughter and applause which followed the revelations.
There was also a serious side to the story as each woman dealt with death, lost love, or failed ambitions in her own life.
A touching story, with a great deal of humour, well directed and acted by the Castle Hill Players; we all enjoyed it immensely.

AT THE NEW SENIORS' COMPLEX
On the first day at the new seniors complex, the manager addressed all the new seniors pointing out some of the rules:
"The female sleeping quarters will be out-of-bounds for all males, and the male quarters to the females.
Anybody caught breaking this rule will be fined $20 the first time." He continued,
"Anybody caught breaking this rule the second time will be fined $60.
Being caught a third time will cost you a fine of $180.
Are there any questions?"
An older gentleman stood up in the crowd and inquired:
"How much for a season pass ???
GUEST SPEAKER LAST MONTH
Phil Reid introduced Taylor Harrison, an Exercise Physiologist who has a business running specialist classes for Seniors. Taylor told us how necessary it is for mature people to combine exercise and stretching into our daily lives. His mantra was that prevention is better than cure, stressing that at this time of life, a fall can bring drastic unwanted changes to our lives. He reinforced with us how im-portant strength, flexibility and balance are for us to enjoy a quality lifestyle.
He was very positive and showed us some simple stretches to do. To check out Taylor’s advice and videos please go to his website.
