TheMunicipalGovernmentBoard(MGB)hasreviewedBeaumont’sannexationproposal and has made a recommendation totheMinisterofMunicipalAffairs.
The recommendation regarding our proposal isconfidentialandwedonotknowthespecifics;however,webelieveourannexationproposal is strong and we are optimistic that a decision will be made in our favour.
Andtohelpinfluencethedecision,weareaskingresidentstowritetothepremier,theministerofmunicipalaffairs,theothermembersofCabinetandourMLAShaye Anderson asking them to support Beaumont’sannexationproposal.
“Wefeelitisveryimportantforthosepeoplewhoareaffectedbytheannexationto show their support and to make their wishesknown,”saysMayorCamilleBérubé.“This land is vital for our long-term growth forthenext50years.”
Wedon’tknowwhenadecisionwillbemade;however,wedoknowitisinthehandsofseniorofficialswithintheprovincial government and we feel a last “push”fromresidentswillbeveryeffectivein cementing support.
The annexation proposal seeks an additional21quartersections,andtheMGBcan recommend any amount of land up to that amount.

Create or Purchase An Emergency Kit
• Water–atleast2litresofwaterperpersonperday; include small bottles that can be carried easily in case of an evacuation order.
• Foodthatwon’tspoil,suchascannedfood,energybarsand dried foods (replace food and water once a year).
• Manualcan-opener.
• Crankorbattery-poweredflashlight(andextrabatteries). Replace batteries once a year.
• Crank,battery-poweredradio(andextrabatteries) orWeatheradio.
• Firstaidkit.
• Extrakeystoyourcarandhouse.
Basic Emergency Kit• Somecashinsmallerbills,suchas$10billsandchangefor payphones.
• Acopyofyouremergencyplanandcontactinformation.
• Ifapplicable,otheritemssuchasprescriptionmedication, infantformula,equipmentforpeoplewithdisabilities,or food,waterandmedicationforyourpetsorserviceanimal (personalize according to your needs).
Ifyouthinkyourwateriscontaminated,checkwithyourmunicipalityorlocalauthoritiesfordetails.Whenindoubt,donot drink water you suspect may be contaminated.
Keepsomecashonhand,asautomatedbankmachinesandtheir networks may not work during an emergency. You may havedifficultyusingdebitorcreditcards.

2016 Neighbourhood Renewal Program is coming to streets in Beau Meadow www.beaumont.ab.ca/construction
The 2016 Neighbourhood Renewal Program will see the sidewalks and gutters replaced and the roadway repaved in parts of Beau Meadow. The streets that will be renewed are:
• 4800blockcul-de-sacon42Street south of 49 Avenue
• 4200blockof49Avenue
• 4600,4700and4800blockson 43 Street
• 46Avenuefrom43Streetto44Street
Construction is slated to begin after the Maylongweekend(weatherdependent,of course) and run approximately two months.
“There will be minor disturbances for thedurationoftheproject,”saysKeatonSeaby,Beaumont’sInfrastructureProject Manager. “Crews will work to minimize delays. At the end of the project,residentswillhavefreshconcretesidewalks,guttersandasphalt.Wethankpeopleinadvancefortheirpatience.”
The total project budget is $1.45 million; however,withthecurrenteconomictimeswe expect to see very competitive bids and we expect to come in under budget.
