About the UCD International Study CentreThe state-of-the-art learning environment at the ISC provides the perfect nurturing surroundings for international students who want to realise their full potential at a prestigious English-speaking university.

If you need help to achieve the required level of English language and academic skills to gain entry to your chosen undergraduate degree, you will benefit from our expert teaching and guidance, as well as the invaluable introduction to European culture offered at the ISC. Your pathway to University College Dublin

English Language PreparationIf you haven’t yet managed to reach an IELTS score of 5.0, you can take an English Language Preparation (ELP) course at the ISC. Students with an IELTS score of 4.0 will need at least one term of ELP to improve their language skills and meet the entry requirements. Courses start in July or September. If you achieve the required module grades in the ELP, you will be able to start your pathway programme.

DEDICATED CAREERS ADVISERAt the ISC there is a dedicated careers adviser who is available for you to discuss summer internship opportunities and your career options.

Your work visa optionsAs a full-time student of any nationality, you are entitled to work in Ireland for up to 20 hours per week in term time and up to 40 hours per week outside of term time. Plus, after graduation you’ll have the chance to remain in Ireland to take advantage of the fantastic work opportunities here.

Ireland is unique in being the only English-speaking European country offering post-study work visas to international students. How long will your degree take?Many degree courses at UCD are three-year courses, however students often choose four-year degree courses for additional depth of knowledge. Within the four-year structure, the first year serves as a broad foundation to your chosen subject area, allowing you to gain a wide range of experience before choosing your specialisation in your third year.

* Since 2013, the educational standard for the professional title of Chartered Engineer (Engineers Ireland) is an accredited master’s degree programme in engineering or equivalent.

**Students contribute to their architecture portfolio throughout degree.

† The BEng degree (4 years) in Chemical & Bioprocess Engineering is accredited at master’s level by the Institute of Chemical Engineers for the professional title of Chartered Engineer (IChemE). This programme includes six month’s work experience.

Progression to your degree at UCDOnce you have successfully completed your International Foundation Year and achieved the required grades, you can progress directly to your undergraduate degree of choice at UCD.

- Once we have received payment (details will be provided in your Offer Letter) your agent or Student Enrolment Adviser can assist you through the visa process.

- You have a legal right to cancel your place up to 14 days after acceptance of our offer of a place.

- We will then inform you / your agent about accommodation and any additional payments required.

- Please ensure you have requested all original academic records to bring with you.

To cover you as a student at the International Study Centre (ISC), you may purchase our “Study Care” insurance cover. This policy will cover you for loss of personal possessions and travel delay, as well as providing medical insurance until the end of your ISC academic programme. You can purchase Study Care Insurance as part of your application process. If you prefer not to take out Study Care insurance, you must provide proof of alternative adequate insurance cover.
