Jumbo Rainier Cherries #118116 11 lbs. [CHL]Rainier cherries distinguish themselves from all other cherry varieties, by the color of their skin and the unparalleled high-sugar levels. Their coloring, layers of golden hues blushed with tones of pink and red, is unequivocally unique. Rainier's shape is a quintessential cherry: plump, rounded and slightly heart-shaped with a dimple at the stem end. The flesh is a pale golden color, with red streaks near the skin and the seed. The flavor of Rainier cherries is memorably sweet and low acid, with a caramel-like finish on your taste buds.

Black Plumcot #151106 2-layers [CHL]During the winter months in the US, our summer stonefruit is grown in South America. The southern hemisphere provides the ideal growing conditions to produce our favorite summer fruits. Plumcots are the hybrid of plum and apricot, with the dominant plum gene. Their skin is a deep red-bluish color with a yellow flesh that is red-tinged. Plumcot's flavor profile is more tart than most pluots, but still holds a sweet taste with a 16 Brix.

Bi-color Grapes #126119 9/2 lbs. [CHL]Arriving fresh from Chile are crisp, sweet, and juicy table grapes. Both Thompson and Crimson varieties are now available, packed in a convenient and easy-to-rinse clamshell. Seedless grapes are a staple for your customer's shopping list. Offering variety captures their attention, but offering a good selection of packs builds their basket size!

Galia Melon #136125 12 ct. [HON]The Galia melon has a yellow to orange skin that is covered in light golden-tan netting. Its flesh is pale green with a succulent texture that has a signature spicy sweet flavor with tropical and perfumed aromatics. Unlike many other melon varieties the tenderness of the stem end of the melon is not a good indicator of ripeness; rather ripeness should be determined by color and development of a distinct musky aroma. The more orange in color the exterior skin of the Gaila melon, the higher the sugar content of the melon’s flesh will be!

FOOTBALL?ARE YOU READY FOR SOME

DID YOU KNOW…According to Nielsen, Super Bowl 2017 had an average audience of 111.3 million viewers and 190.8 million social media interactions. Last year’s game was the first time in Super Bowl history that a post-season game went into overtime. The Patriots orchestrated a comeback that was viewed in over 53 million homes. This year, on February 4th, it’s time for some football! Are you ready for the Big Game? It’s time to capitalize on large home gatherings, BBQs, and a favorite past time of America’s culture. With a little planning and smart merchandising, you can capitalize on this de facto holiday and boost your department’s sales. Connect with your Sun representative today and get ready for kick-off!

MERCHANDISING TIPS…

• Many people watch the game from home. Be sure to offer fresh and creative ideas. For example, create a destination display for an “Everything Needed for a Nacho Bar!” or “Table-side Guac!”. Cross-merchandise with chips, tortillas, and cheese to boost overall sales. Get festive with party trays and create fruit and vegetable platters to resemble a football shape.

• Sampling is an effective method to move inventory. Most people have never grilled fresh corn, mushrooms or peppers. Offer ready-to-grill items in high-traffic areas or end-cap displays. Post basic cooking signs, for example, “Grill 8-10 minutes and serve!”. During the week before and of Super Bowl, grill vegetables and fresh stone fruits (apricots, peaches, plums, nectarines) to generate a mouth-watering aroma throughout the store.

RETAIL TIPS…

• Remember the importance of planning. Write every details today. From special offers to decorations of your department. Compose a list of what needs to be done, underline the priorities and go to action.

• Super Bowl is a festive occasion when big groups get-together. Be prepared for large crowds popping up at once. Ensure there is plenty of coverage on your sales floor and support staff to maintain an organized and clean department.
