    There

    are four phases

    to

    our

    work:

    the establishing

    of churches,

    the t raining of

    national ministers,

    the

    Search

    the

    Scriptures

    radio

    braodcast, and th e

    medical

    program.

    Since

    1965

    te n congregations have been

    started

and ten evangelists have been trained

P RE SENT ING THE PRINCE

    OF

    PEACE

    by

    Lawrence

    Ebak,

    native

    evangelist

    In the

    church

    where

    I

    preach we had

    a

    family

    that

    was always having trouble. The

    man

    w as

    a Chr i s t i an

    b ut th e wife was no t . A t

    one t ime I

    was

called in to settle a dispute

    between

    them.

    As

    I got to

    this home,

    I

    asked

    what

    the

trouble was. The man told me, My

    wife

    is

    always

    giving

    trouble in the home.

    She fights

    me

    every

    time I

    return from th e

    worship

    service

    on Sundays.

    The

    reason is

th at s he is not a Chr is t ian and does not know

    the love

    of

    Christ

that brings peace to a home.

    I

    wish

    she

    could

    be

    taught this

    love and have

he r l i fe renewed in the blood of

    Chri s t .

    To

    have

    peace

    in

    the

    family I have offered

    her

    everything

    I

    have, but

    all in

    vain.

    The only

    thing

    left

    is

    to

    try

    Christ.

    I

    th ink once

    she

    knows Christ

    and

    is baptized, we shall have

    l e s s

    o r

    no mo r e t rouble .

    My husband does wha t

    I

    don 't l ike

    I

    love th i s

    ma n b ef or e I

    mar r i ed him. I f

    I

    d idn t I wouldn' t have mar r i ed h im .

    What

    causes the t rouble

    is that

    he goes

    to

    work

    every

    day of

    th e

    week and

    on Sundays

    he

    leaves me

    alone

    in the

    house,

    too-. He is sup

    posed

    to

    remain

    at home

    with me,

    but

    on Sun

    days

    he goes out telling

    me

    that

    he goes to

    church. I don't

    see any

    good reason of h is

    going to

    church

    when he

    brings

    nothing home

    for the family,

    said

    the wife.

    Have

    you ever

    been to

    a

    church building

    for worship service? I asked.

    No,

    what

    for? I don't see why I

    should.

If I had time I would

    like

    to

    spend i t

    a t

    home

    and try

    t o keep

    my home in

    good

    order , she

    s a id .

    Yes, keeping a home in

    good

    order

    is

    not

    bad.

    If

    a

home is good looking but l acks peace ,

    what

    good is

    there ? Do

    you

    know

    you have

    two

    homes? You

    are

    dwelling in one

    and

    that is

    this

    on e you built.

    The other one is

    your

    heart ,

    your

    mind

There is someone who will like

    to dwe l l

    in i t .

    Th is

    m an

    i s the Man t ha t

    can

    can bring peace in

    your home.

    He

    is Jesus,

    th e Pr ince o f Peace Wi thout H im t h e r e will

    be

    no

    peace in

    your

    li fe and your

    home.

    Have

    you prepared

    a

    p lace o f Him yet?

    Do

    you

know how to? The chu rch can

    help

    you pre

    pare a home

    for

    Christ , I told her .

    You s e e .

    wife

    o the r husbands

    and

wives go to church services together. They

    both hear

    what is taught. When

    they go

    home

    they

    go with new

    teachings

    and

    i deas tha t

    will

    help

    them run

    their

    home well and

    live

    a

    happy

    life.

    You

    do

    not

    go to

    church

    with

    me

    That

    is

    why

    when I

    come

    home I

    find

    you

    doing things that

    are contrary

    to what

    I

    Learned in

    church;

    said the husband. Then

    I

    t ol d t hem

    Surely

    if both of

    you

    will be

    present in

    the church every

    Lord's

    Day to l isten

    to

    the

    teachings of Christ,

    that

    wil l pave your way

    to a peaceful

    life. Not wha t

    man

    has

    offered,

    or your

    husband remaining

    at home

    will

    bring peace

    to a

    home.

    It is th e

    quest ion of

    knowing what

    brings

    peace,

    That is

    knowing

    Christ

    and

    His teach ings

    Please,

    Madam,

    th e

    Lord

    has

    asked me

    t o inv it e you

    to

    th e

    next

    worship

    service on

    Sunday morning.

    He has a

    personal message for

    you. Will

    you

    come

    with

    your husband?

    I

    asked.

    Well, I

    think

    I

    will try when

    the

    day

    comes ,

    she answered.

    On

    the

    Lord's

    Day she was

    present

    in the

    worship

    service.

    After

    service she met

o the r s who were in teres ted in h e r and asked

    her to come again

    I

    could see her having

    a

    n ice t ime talking

    to

    them. As

    they

    journeyed

    homeward

    I could see

    her waving

    good-bye

    to

    h e r

    new

    f r i end s

    with

    a

    smi l e .

    I made s eve ra l v is it s

    to

    this

    home pre

    senting the only way

    to

    peace.

    Christ

    was

    preached unto

    of

    this lady accepted

    Chri st a s her

we need in our homes, Why

    not

    try Christ

    GOALS

The Ekuri congregat ion in the Eastern

    Region

    of Nigeria has gathered

    rocks for

    the

    construction

    of the Materni ty

    Home

    buildings.

    There

    is a perpetually overcrowded hospital

    a t Obubra,

    38 miles

    from Ekuri .

    Not

    many

    of

    the sick of Ekuri ever

    get

    there. This is

    due to the fact that

    mos t

    o f th em do

    no t

    have

    money for

    transportation

    and many of them

    a re

    s t i l l conv inced

    o f th e a b il it ie s o f

    t h e i r

    own n a t ive

    In

    the

o the r d ir ect ion from Ekuri ,

    ac ross

    the

    riv e a t

    Itigidi, is a Presbyterian hospital

    which

    has been

    opened

    for a

    few

    years. It

    is

    always

    full;

    and, aga in ,

    many of the mothers

    o f Ekur i

    wi l l neve r

    make

    i t

    haps carrying

    another

    baby

    on

    the back

    and a

    load

    on

    the head. This maternity

    home

    would

    not

    only

    serve Ekuri, which is

    the

    second

    largest town

    in Obubra

    Division,

    but

    would

serve many other villages lying adjacent to

    it. I t would be

    difficult for

    me to tell

    you

    what i t would

    mean

    to

    the people

    of

    this

    area.

How much is a four year foundation of

    How much is a

    These

    return

Seek ing God 's will in a decision ha s

    Bu t the

    coupled
