RemainsofourAncestorsarecominghomewheretheybelong!
In1850staffatFortBradyMichiganexcavatedtherestingplaceofourAncestorsforthe
purposeofperformingscientificexperiments.Theseremains,somehow,forsomeunexplainedreason,
arenowbeingheldattheSmithsonianinWashingtonDC.
ItwasnotuntiltheSaultTribeinMichiganwereplanningtorepatriatedsomeoftheirown
AncestorswhentheywerenotifiedaboutBFNhavingremainsonsite,attheSmithsonian.
BatchewanaFirstNationincollaborationwithSaultTribehavebeenworkingcloselyforthepast
5yearstobringthemhome.Theprocessforthereleaseoftheremainsisalongonebutwithouruniquehistoricalbackground,andourhandeddownteachings,ourAncestorswereeasilyidentifiedas
BatchewanaFirstNation,objectsburiedwiththem,andthetraditionalmarkingsofourceremonies
wereclearlypresent.
WeaskallBatchewanaFirstNationMemberscomeouttosee,
feel,andbreathe,thetraditionalteachingsthroughceremony,andto
bepartofthishistoricalevent!

thejourneyhomeacrosstheSt.MariesRiver,arrivingatBellevueParkatapproximately
11am.WeareaskingallBatchewanaFirstNationMemberstoattendBellevueParktohelp
usreceiveorancestorsbackhome.
FollowingthegatheringatBellevuePark,aprocessiontotheTraditionalBurialGroundsinGoulaisMissionwhereatraditionalburialceremonywilltakeplace
