the ceremony, there was the Ribbon Cutting of the beautiful state-of -the-art facility, tours of the new station,

Assemblyman Paul Cook Honored for his work on Cancer Legislation.
SACRAMENTO– Assemblyman Paul Cook (R-Yucca Valley) was recognized as Legislator of
the Year 2009 by the Association of Northern California Oncologists and the Medical
Oncology Association of Southern California. The honor was given to Assemblyman Cook for
his extensive work on Assembly Bill 830, which allows for cancer-treating physicians
(Oncologists) to utilize a vast list of off-label drugs to better serve cancer patients with the
most cutting-edge and innovative therapies. Otherwise known as compendia, this list of
off-label drugs are used to prescribe medication for treating a disease or condition that is
outside the scope of a drug’s original approved use.
Assemblyman Cook, a Leukemia survivor who experienced first-hand the ravages of
chemotherapy, authored the bill that garnered unanimous support in both the California
Assembly and the Senate.
Responding to the recognition received today, Assemblyman Cook stated: “It is a great honor
to receive this award today. I’m delighted that Assembly Bill 830 will enable cancer physicians
to have one more weapon in their arsenal in the great fight against cancer.”
Assemblyman Cook Fights to Reduce New California Mobile Home Fees
SACRAMENTO– Assemblyman Paul Cook (R-Yucca Valley) introduced new legislation that
aims to reverse mobile home and manufactured home registration fee increases recently
enacted by the state during the 2009 budget negotiation. The recent increases, in some cases
have more than double registration fees for mobile homes and manufactured homes alike.
AB 2029 will remove state mandated increases in registration for those mobile home owners
who are below the federal poverty line.
As Chairman of the Inland Empire Caucus, Assemblyman Cook recognizes the large number
of mobile and manufactured home owners in the Inland Empire and, specifically, in his district
(AD 65), in which over 20,000 mobile home owners are barely making ends meet as it is.
These fees need to be reversed to alleviate the financial strain on those who can least afford it.”
Assemblyman Paul Cook represents the Inland Empire, including portions of Riverside
and San Bernardino Counties Field Office 34932 Yucaipa Blvd, Yucaipa, CA 92399 (909) 790-4196
