The city has been getting shot-lived nicknames like the PensionCity, the Pub City and the latest being the Silicon Valley of India

my next visit, this fast growing city could get a new name the TEstate City.

The Oberoi Hotel (Ph: 91 80 25585852;www.oberioiblr.com) is a very nice property. It’s on

Mahatma Gandhi (MG) Road, the central nerve ofBangalore. The area has the cosmopolitan spirit.

Though I felt sad to see and hear about those beautiful h giving way to modern day glass buildings.

Spread across 300 acres, Cubbon Park is the green lung and one of the largest green spot

in Bangalore. It has been named afterBangalore’s longest serving commissioner SirMark Cubbon. It’s was nice to come across

such a place in a city which is fast turninginto a concrete jungle. I sat under the shade

of one its many magnificent trees and watched the towering bamboo sway in the breeze.

On its fringes are the neoclassical High Court,

the State Central Library, the Government Aquarium, the Government Museum and theVenkatappa Art Gallery. Museum and the

The sturdy little Tipu’s fort is at ththe bustling city market. It is a twornate wooden structure with pillaand balconies flanked by gardens

The ferry ride to the fort was very much exciting. Thedelicate minarets of Jama Masjid and the temples gave a

charm to the fort. The KTDC Hotel Mayura River View is theonly good place around for staying and eating. The taxi horsecarriages gave this small quaint town the historic charm.

Rangnathittu Bird Sanctuary Island-

3km Srirangapatnam, 8.30am-6pm,Best time- April- July.The sanctuary is on one of the 3 islands on the Cauvery River. It is a great place for the bird lovers. It’s abird lover’s paradise and I caught a glimpse of ibis and spoonbill. The boat ride took me to the personal lives ofour feathery friends. The best time tobe there is early in the morning orlate in the afternoon.
