994 Bagworth Heath Woods (south part)
Country Park (LCC).
996 St Peter’s churchyard, Thornton
Elevated site on a mound and overlooking Thornton Reservoir. Provides the setting for the Grade I Listed church. Although the present church dates from the 13th century (with 14th-19th century additions) the site was undoubtedly of sacred significance from earliest Christian (8th century) times.

First quarried 1868; this was the first industrial-scale Leicestershire roadstone quarry, exporting across southern England and establishing this important local industry.

999 New Cliffe Hill quarry
Working quarry.
Leicestershire Regionally Important Geological Site (RIGS; LCC).
Aggregate quarry, spectacularly deep terraced workings into Precambrian diorite (Markfieldite) with overburden of Triassic desert sediments above. The mineralogy and petrology are scientifically important, but the principal interest is the unconformity between the diorite and the Triassic sediments: this is a preserved, buried landscape from 225 million years ago.
