Introduction

The BACnet CIM only ships with the motherboard installed in the enclosure if you have given the factory the desired programming for shipment.

• It will be necessary to provide technical support with the necessary programming information in order to ship the unit to the site. Please see the end of this document to obtain the paperwork that must be filled out for the configuration of this unit.

• The unit will be pre-configured for the protocol, baud rate and connection type for your site based on the information provided to us.

• A system integrator mapping table will be provided including a header for information on details on the configured protocol type, i.e. BACnet over Ethernet, BACnet over IP, BACnet over MS/TP, or BACnet over ARCnet.

Each CIM is capable of monitoring/controlling one network segment that does not exceed 100 devices or 3200 feet. If network bridges are used to extend the network further or to isolate smaller networks, one CIM-will be needed per bridged network segment.

Please refer to the systems integrator mapping table for the information on how the BACnet points relate to the iLumin architectural dimming control points.

• Select Scene: Command scenes 0 to 128 to areas 0 to 999.• Scene Status: Display the current active scene number for areas 0 to 999.• Zone Level Command: Command a zone to a specific level. The CIM is built and tested to strict safety regulations. By following the steps listed below and elsewhere within this guide, you can ensure safe installation and operation of these controller units.

• The CIM must be installed only by a qualified electrician.

• The installation must comply with the appropriate electrical codes and regulations in force in your area.

• The CIM is designed for indoor installation and use only. The unit can, however, be used to control appropriately certified exterior fixtures.

• Ensure that all wiring used conforms fully to local specifications and is sufficiently rated for the installation.

• All new wiring must be fully verified before applying power.

• The high voltage supply should be fed to the CIM via an external isolation breaker with sufficient capacity for the planned installation.

• Ensure that the supply is fully isolated at an external breaker before removing the chassis covers. Test that power has been removed before starting to handle conductors.

• Ensure that high voltage and low voltage wiring remains separate.

Specification• All low-voltage wiring is Class 2 wiring.• All low-voltage wiring must be run in separate

conduit from line-voltage wiring.• Test all low-voltage wiring for shorts to AC ground

before connection to the CIM unit.• Cooper Controls LCCP or LCCNP cable or Belden 1502 cable should be used for connection to the iLumin network.

• Total network length of a single segment should not exceed 3200 feet or 100 devices without using a network bridge device.

• All devices on the iLumin network segment should be daisy chained. Do not create a Star or T-tapped configuration.

• Choose a dry location convenient to the iLumin network that also has access to the BACnet network.

• Mount the enclosure on a firm surface using the predrilled mounting holes.

• Low voltage network connections for the iLumin Architectural Dimming System and the BACnet connection to the CIM enclosure should be done through conduit. Bring network wiring in conduit through the left top or upper right side of the enclosure. The lower right corner of the enclosure is reserved for the high-voltage supply wiring.

• Remove all cuttings and dirt before providing power to the CIM unit.

BACnet overARC156 Port

BACnet MSTP is set up using the bit switches on the bottom of the CIM unit. If the factory has been noti-fied that this type of connection is required, this will be preconfigured for the unit on site.

The MS/TP port™s default baud rate is of 76800kbps.Please check the mapping table paperwork for the CIM to check if a different baud rate setting has been config-ured per request of the site.

Port S1 is used for a MS/TP connection. Connect thecommunications wiring to Port S1 Network + and Network - terminals making certain to use the same polarity through the network segment. Verify that the port S1 jumper has been configured for a 2 wire RS485 connection and the Dipswitch #4 has been turned ON to enable MSTP.

iLumin Network Wiring

All devices on the iLumin network segment should be daisy chained. Do not create a Star or T-tapped configuration.Cable connections to the iCANnet network are made to a removable 5-way connector block located at one end of the SI-2-NA unit:

iCANnet Wiring

Cable Type: Cooper LC or Belden 1502Maximum cable length: 3200 ft. (1000 m)*Devices per segment: 100 (without bridge or repeater)

* Network segments over 1000 ft. (305m) may require the use of a external power supply. Contact Cooper Controls Technical Support if you are installing a network longer than 1000 ft. (305m) to discuss if a power supply will be necessary for your installation.

The SI-2-NA unit is supplied with termination enabled as standard. If it is not connected as an end device in the iCANnet chain, you need to disable termination. To disable SI-2-NA termination, move the jumper from the lower two pins to the upper two pins, as shown

The iCANnet is a ‘daisy chain’ protocol that requires termination on the devices located at either end of the iCANnet chain.
