2012 Our Year in Review Babana has had another amazing year thanks to the support of all of our members and also the local com- munity. We have been able to achieve some amazing outcomes and the rest of this edion will be a pictorial containing the work we have done. As many know we have had some issues including the Government suspending our IEP, but we are resili- ent and will connue to work for our people. (contact us if you want to help in our push for this to be unfro- zen—[email protected]) Plans for the New Year The Board have already begun plan- ning on our events for 2013. We seek volunteers to assist in the planning and running of these events so please keep your eyes out for informaon in the coming months. Coloured Digger Anzac Event

Babana was once again involved in the planning and running of the Anzac Event in Redfern. This year we honoured the Vietnam Veterans .

Closing the Gap Day was one of the big events on the calendar of the group this year and we had quite a lot of support from our community members,

Official Openings

Babana were invited to be a part of two major openings in 2012.

Nura Gili (UNSW) was officially opened by the Governor of NSW and the Dei Corp Building was opened by the Premier.

Chairman Mark Spinks was a guest speakder at the Dei Corp event and Babana was mentioned in the speeches by Prof Nakata and Gov-ernor Bashir.

Jawun Events

Our men’s group was once again involved in the Jawun program which connects Corporates to Com-munity organisations. Sonny Ed-wards, Jeremy Heathcote and Mark Spinks were on the front cover of the KPMG RAP and Lord Hastings visited the Babana shed to meet with Pastor Ray and Jeremy Heath-cote .

their bus and also POWH with

Naidoc fundraiser.

which was the first in many

years at the Kensington Cam-

pus

Thanks to a donation from

anonymous benefactor Babana

was able to get our own bus.

One of the first things that we

did was to organise a cultural

trip to Forster.

be moved instead to a trip on
