Comparing my media product to existing ones-Red is a common colour to be used on magazine covers due to its connotations. Although I have not followed this trend with my magazine.-I have used the following conventions; a master head; magazine logo; large image; variety of font sizes; badges to highlight certain information and puffs and commands.-Like existing magazines I have stuck to a basic colour scheme.

Comparing my media project to existing onesBoth examples and my contents page have large font across the top.My contents is similar to Q’s because both have highlighted headings concerning the content. All three pages have a large picture which is related to a feature within the magazine to variety. However my page contains far less writing than NME or Q.

How does your media product represent particular social groups? My target audience is male. The title relates to my target audience because grey is a masculine colour. The word primal has a meaning of being of the greatest importance, and this then comes across to the reader. The connotations of my colour scheme is as follows;Blues; harmony and peaceGrey; modestyYellow; happiness and joyThese all represent and relate to the genre of the magazine, acoustic music, therefore relating to the target audience as well.My magazine also contains images of recognisable acoustic artists, a female to catch their eye and a male acoustic artist they may look at as a role model.

www.bauermedia.co.uk/magazine

I have chosen Bauer publishing group (a branch of Bauer media group) to distribute my magazine because they a large scale successful company who can reach my target audience easily. They also have existing music magazines targeted towards men. Some magazine already produced by Bauer include MojoKerrang!Q

Who would be the audience for your media product?

• My target audience are male and between 14-19 years.

• From either C2 or D social class• They like the idea of buying something they

have just read a review on.• They like acoustic/ alternative music and

buy this often.• My audience will possibly be musical,

therefore instruments interest them.• They like to listen to new bands but existing

ones too. • My audience like their dress sense to reflect

their music. In other words, dress like the artists they listen to.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from the full product?

I feel more confidence in what I can design and produce.

I think the quality of my work has improved. My music magazine looks more like a magazine than my school magazine does.

I understand and I have learnt more about the forms and conventions of magazines.

Next time round I would focus on getting more appropriate pictures and making sure they fit magazine conventions and the target audience.

I have learnt is it best not too over complicate designs.Photoshop is only suitable for picture editing, too complex for creating entire magazine covers.Photoshop is helpful for double pagesWord and paint are simpler and quicker to use.
