List of features supported in version 1.2.55 Features update between Version 1.2.55 and Release V1.2

• Data Base rebuild utility – allows restoration/reconstruction of the database. This feature provides the AXN with the capability to reconstruct, into an editable text file, the sequence of CLI commands that created the database. The generated file is divided to several logical sections (Assigning slots, creating CES over IP, etc) and contains the necessitate set of commands to recreate the database (it does not contain commands that will result from default configuration). This feature allows:

1. Data base back up on remote server. 2. Simple multiple AXN configuration by the ability to edit the file and to

download new configuration to other AXNs.

Commands Description • Export - command to generate a file that contains a list of CLI commands

that reconstruct the current database and when executed will rebuild the same database configuration.

• Execute – runs a script file that contain a list of CLI commands.

Syntax • Export Syntax:

export db2script <destination file> Where destination file is a URL like file name of the following form: ftp://IP/dir/dir…]/filename Example: export script ftp://192.168.105.223/MyBackup/MyScript.txt This will generate a script file called MyScript.txt in subdirectory MyBackup at FPT server 192.168.105.223

• Execute Syntax:

execute <source file> where source file is a URL like file name (similar to destination file)

Tag (‘) at the beginning of a line means a comment.

Assumptions and limitations:

1. The destination/source must contain FTP server. 2. The user has the appropriate permission (Config at least). 3. Tunnels are created only automatically but are not reconstructed and not

configured. (This will change in later release). 4. Before DB script execution - The system must be after “install” command and

with basic IP configuration set to allow connectivity to the FTP server. 5. Execution does not stop on configuration error. It continues running to the end

of the file. 6. Only one export or execute commands are performed at the same time 7. It is the user responsibility not to do any configuration changes during

export/execute commands.

Release Notes for AXN1600/600

AXD-RLN-1255-A01 9

• Improved CLI – for a complete list of updated CLI commands please refer to the [ISG].

Features update between Release 1.2 and Release 1.1

• 1:1 redundancy on the network interface (INI). • SW Upgrade Process - upgrade of new SW version to the AXN by means of FTP

from external server. • E1/E3, T1/T3 performance monitoring according to ITU G.826/

ANSI T.231 RFC 2495 (T1/E1) and RFC 2496 (DS-3/E3) • Statistics & PM for CESoIP connections • Connection management over IP (CMoIP) at the level of individual connection or at the

level of aggregated connections flows that share the same SRC IP, DST IP, DiffServ. • Support of secondary timing sources as backup to the primary source. • Alarm logging with history by SYSLOG server. All information, which is

sent to the SYSLOG, is also logged by the AXN in internal file.

Features update between Release 1.1 and Release 1.0 • Timing holdover in the case of timing source failure • Access Privileges to the AXN Command Line Interface (CLI) • Trusted list of client for remote Telnet access • RADIUS client authentication and authorization • Alarms event export to SYSLOG server

Features in Release 1.0

Legacy Services Emulation over IP: • Circuit Emulation Service (CESoIP™) of T1/E1, Fractional

T1/E1 or any group of DS0 (timeslots) over IP. • Emulation of Frame Relay PVC / FR VPN over IP network (FRoIP™).

Emulation is supported per FR DLCI within a defined FR port. • Emulation of the entire HDLC frame over IP (HDLCoIP) network.

Termination into IP: • IP over Frame Relay (RFC 1490) • IP over Cisco-HDLC

Note: IPoFR and FRoIP can be defined on a per DLCI basis on the same FR port.

IP Routing:

• Static routing (configuration via SNMP or CLI) Quality of Service Features

• Specifies IP precedence by setting/resetting the value of the ToS/DiffServ Code Point (DSCP) byte in the IP header. Setting the DSCP byte is supported on a per IP flow basis. • Enabling Low-latency priority queuing that can be assigned for real-time traffic

such as CESoIP. • Mapping DSCP byte to 802.1q Eth VLAN priority (4 priorities)

Management

• Remote and local access with Axerra Based Command Line Interface (CLI)

Limitations and Restrictions

Unresolved Issues Table 4 lists known unresolved issues in this release. Included with each is a brief description of the problem.

Track ID Priority Description

1249 2 Jitter measurement on CESoIP connection provides inaccurate numeral value if LOS has occurred on this particular CES connection

1257, 1277 3 Auto completion does not work in some commands. For example: Route, setprive, ipaccess

680 3 Admin user name can’t be changed 473 3 Adding route with mask 255.0.0.0 might cause up to 5 msec traffic

interruption 746 2 The Output clock coming out from the RJ-45 connector in the IM-INI is

not stable. The problem occurs while the system is configured to take clock from mini BNC E1 connector (G703.9)

662 2 Successive insertion and extraction of the INI Interface Module (IM-INI) might result with the stuck of INI card. Work around: Extract and Insert INI

1189 3 Statistics for the ICP management Ethernet port are not supported 1213 3 The following can occur when manual switch from primary INI to

secondary INI is triggered: Tx Traffic will be transmitted by the secondary INI while Rx traffic will still come through the primary INI.

1216 2 The following occurs when there is sufficient disk space to download new zipped SW version but insufficient space to include the unzipped version: the operation fails and proper message appears but the SW LIST shows it as a valid existing version.

1226 3 The Auto completion interprets TAB as Enetr when the craft terminal is connected through the serial port (RS-232)

1313 2 Invalid IP address is accepted when configuring the SYSLOG server address

Table 4: Unresolved issues for Release 1.2.55

Corrected errors from previous releases Track ID Description

1 The following occurs in the case of ICP reset or insertion when INI redundancy is defined: traffic interruption for approximately 20 msec

2 The following occurs when the standby INI is active and disable of automatic switching mode is set: the system will switch from standby INI to the primary INI.

4 Ethernet physical link is “up” while administratively the Ethernet interface configured as down

5 GigE physical interface is already “up” while the INI card didn’t complete

Page 11: AXN Release Notes 1.0

Release Notes for AXN1600/600

AXD-RLN-1255-A01 11

initialization process. This might result in loss of small amount traffic in the case where the primary INI was out, inserted back in, and the IP router decides to re-send traffic to the primary INI.

7 CES statistics counters are incremented even when CESoIP connection is administratively disabled

10 NI-B slot name is missing in TAB completion list for card assign command 11 List of the defined protection groups are not displayed 13 Illegal route such add 2.3.2.9 255.255.255.252 192.168.1.200 15 is accepted although

2.3.2.9 and 255.255.255.252 not equal to 2.3.2.9 14 Protection switch events are not reported to SYSLOG

Table 5: Resolved issues from previous releases

Additional Information • The accuracy of the internal clock in the INI is over 20 ppm and therefore it is not

recommended to serve as a source for T3/E3 • AIS in E1, which is set to be the clock source, will trigger clock switch.

The only exception is when the clock source is G703.9 (external) because alarm monitoring is not supported in this interface.

• Configuration of two loopback (Facil & Term) simultaneously in IOM-212/222 is not supported

• Internal SYSLOG file can’t be exported to external server

SW Identification SW version name: AXN010255.zip

Software upgrade The upgrade of new SW version to the AXN will involve:

1. Download of new SW version to the AXN by means of FTP from external server. 2. Storing the new SW in the ICP disk. 3. Activating the actual upgrade process by CLI command.

The process will upgrade the SW of each module currently installed in the chassis. Please note that the upgrade process is interrupting traffic and user should turn of services before activation the upgrade process. The upgrade process allows the AXN to return to the previous SW version in the case the new version doesn’t work. For a comprehensive description of the procedure to upgrade a new SW release to the AXN please refer to [ISG]
