Webster placed among the top 100 SBA lenders nationwide, as it partnered with the SBA to more effectively connect small businesses with needed capital. Webster’s dollar volume totaled $68.5 million for the fiscal year, more than double its 2017 total of $30.6 million. Webster Bank was recognized on the 2018 top charitable contributors list by donating at least $100,000 in cash contributions to

Massachusetts- based charities and social-service nonprofits in 2017. The distinction represents Webster’s commitment to putting people first through respect, ethical behavior and teamwork.

President and Chief Executive Officer John Ciulla was the recipient of the 2018 John Winthrop Wright Ethics in Action Award. Given annually to a Connecticut business or community leader, this award honors authentically demonstrated character and ethical business or leadership practices, as promoted by Wright, the school’s founder.

Webster Bank was named Favorite Bank in the Journal’s annual poll of readers. The media outlet received almost 40,000 nominations for awards in 160 categories. More than 31,200 Rhode Islanders cast 378,000 votes for more than 10,000 businesses during the nomination and voting rounds. The bank is listed among winners in a special Readers’ Choice Magazine distributed by the Journal.

Webster Bank was recognized by the Greater Connecticut Chapter. The Mercury Awards honor the best public relations and communications programs and performance in the profession. Webster’s public relations team won a first-place Gold Award for Reputation/Brand Management for its strategic plan for the historic transition of leadership from longtime CEO James Smith to John Ciulla, the third CEO in the bank’s 82-year history.

Webster Bank was one of 12 workplaces highlighted in this annual listing based on suggestions sought through the magazine’s website and social media and research on the state’s top companies.

Webster Bank was recognized by multiple Junior Achievement chapters throughout our footprint. JA of Southwest New England honored Webster

with its 2018 Corporate Award in recognition of the longstanding donor relationship between Webster and JA. In Rhode Island, Louis Amoriggi was honored by JA of Rhode Island with its Morris J.W. Gaebe Profile in Excellence Award for his many years of service to the Rhode Island chapter.

Webster Bank was once again named Best Business Bank in the 14th annual Connecticut Law Tribune, Best Of supplement. Readers cast votes in categories from data technology products and banking services to litigation support.

Webster Bank earned the “Best Bank” and “Best Commercial Lender” awards in the Best Financial Services category. It was the second straight year that HBJ readers voted Webster as

Timothy Bergstrom, regional president for Hartford, Conn., received the Leadership Award at the 2018 Malcolm Baldrige Chamber Awards Evening. Commemorating the spirit of former Secretary of Commerce and beloved Waterbury champion Malcolm “Mac” Baldrige, this honor is presented to an individual who demonstrates leadership functions within the Chamber, provides expertise and skill in introducing major innovations and contributes to the Chamber’s function as the region’s network, resource and advocate.

Providence Business News named Deborah Viveiros, vice president, Relationship Manager, to its 40 Under Forty list for 2018. Young professions chosen for the distinction excel in their chosen professions and are involved in their communities in a significant way. Deb was chosen from nearly 200 candidates, the longest list of applicants the PBJ has ever received.

Xana Dolan, vice president, service of process, research and background screening, was selected as one of 15 Connecticut bankers named “New Leaders in Banking.” Outstanding employees, managers and business leaders are nominated by their fellow employees for having a notable impact within their bank and community. Nominees are reviewed by an independent panel of judges.

Waterbury Observer readers once again named Webster Bank their choice for banking services in the Best of Greater Waterbury annual poll. The honor reflects Webster’s dedication to the city it’s called home for more than 80 years.

Kristen Manginelli, senior vice president, Segment Strategy Manager, was named to the Journal’s 14th annual 40 Under Forty list. Candidates for the honor hail from the corporate, nonprofit and governmental

worlds and are judged on their business accomplishments, leadership, community involvement and other qualities that set them apart.

John Olerio, director, senior vice president, Webster Investment Services, was ranked no. 16 on BIC’s annual list of the most successful managers of investment services programs at banks and credit unions in the nation. To compile the list, BIC uses several variables, such number of advisors overseen and team assets, as well as annual team production and percentage growth in AUM and production per advisor.

The SBA named Aaron Bohigian, vice president and associate relationship manager, Business Banking, Financial Services Champion for 2018. The distinction is given each year to an individual who advances small businesses’ interests through either financial services or accounting. Bohigian oversees the Greater Hartford/West Hartford market for Webster’s Business Banking unit. He was nominated by a peer from the Small Business Development Center.

Webster Bank was named Best Bank/Credit Union in the 2018 version of this annual survey of readers. Webster is honored our central Connecticut customers showed their appreciation for our service through this poll. The awards were announced in a special pull-out section of the newspaper.

Robert Polito Jr., senior vice president and director of government guaranteed Lending (SBA) was named a Coleman 2018 SBA (7a) Lender of the Year – one of only two U.S. lenders to receive this honor. In his more than 24 years with Webster, Bob has closed more than 3,000 loans – roughly $750 million in new SBA loans.
