‘Great oaks from little acorns grow’ @LlangroveCEAcademy Autumn term (2) 2016 – Week 1 The Hindu Festival of Diwali Sunday 30 th Oct – Thursday 3rd of November. “Lead us from untruth to truth From darkness to light From death to immortality Om Peace Peace, Peace.” This week… Acorn Class have been thinking about forthcoming ‘Bonfire Night’ and created wonderful artwork, including leaf fireworks. Whilst collecting leaves the children took time out because there’s no better way to spend a sunny autumnal day than to lie in leaves and be ‘leaf’ angels. (see photo overleaf ) Beech Class completed their castles – which are now ‘defending’ their classroom display. Who killed Julius Caesar’? was the question posed to Oak Class this week. They conducted a mock trial – presenting and then cross-examining different witnesses’ testimonies. The children have also begun to plan their ‘Roman banquet’, thinking about the delicacies that they could include for their parents’ pleasure! Having Fun Fundraising… Tuesday’s collective worship was a bit of a close shave…for Mr. Fox, Mr. Preddy, Mr Goodchild and Mr Hartland. The male staff – along with five others from across the HMFA have pledged their support for ‘Movember’ by growing a moustache to raise awareness of prostate cancer. Please visit https://uk.movember.com/mospace/team/2257454 to donate. Samaritans Purse - Operation Christmas Child… Thank you to everyone who has kindly filled a shoe box or donated items enabling Wendy’s ‘Pebbles club’ to ‘pool’ together the items to make up completed boxes. Mrs Harley collected them today.
