SYSTEM COMPONENTS

Operator's Station

The SCADA system has distributed computing and networking

facilities using client-server architecture, Ethernet & TCP/IP

network protocol. It consists of a Operator cum Engineer

workstation for dialogue between operator/ Engineer and the

system through Normal Operator Commands (non-privileged) as

well as privileged commands. The Normal Operator Commands

include commands for display of single line diagram, trends,

alarms, alarm acknowledgment, viewing of instantaneous and

historical values of parameters. The privileged commands will

require logging in via a password mechanism to avoid unauthorized

access and are used for system configuration and reconfiguration

by engineers.

Ø32 bit PCs as workstations/servers

ØIndustrial Servers

Ø64 bit server (N/W layer)

ØOperating System: Windows NT/2000/XP

ØDatabase: Oracle or MySQL Server

The Operator's Station is the key human machine interface within a

substation. It acquires, processes, displays and records all the

information received by devices on bay level and transmits

operators' instructions to the devices on bay level to fulfill the

monitoring, control and administration on all the equipment in the

substation while multiple application functions are integrated in

the station.

SCADA FEATURES

HMI Features:

Single Line Drawing

The Server is the center where the data of many sub-stations are

acquired, processed, stored and transmitted. It also stores all types

of historical data.

The main functions of the Protection Relay Engineer's Workstation

include parameterizations of protective equipment and evaluation

of fault wave records, working status, fault information and

operating information, vector analysis of fault wave records,

harmonic analysis of wave record, impedance analysis of wave

records and ranging of fault wave record, etc.

The system provides an economical way of delivering locally or

remotely metering, monitoring, control, protection and recording

functions to the different users in utilities and industries. This

system is based on modern off-the-shelf technology and industry

standard communication and browsing tools.

The HMI features provide for an easy and efficient user interaction

thus enabling effective control and monitoring of the various

systems:

The single line drawing (SLD) gives the complete overview of the

substation. It contains details about the Dynamic Busbar colouring

feature, Status of switches and the details of the primary and

secondary equipment and display of metering parameters.

SUBSTATION COMMUNICATION GATEWAY (SCG)

Description

Substation Communication Gateway (SCG) acquires data from the

numerical relays, digital multifunction meters and field

equipment and aids in data management like real-time process

monitoring, alarming, reporting and data archiving. It Polls and

Collects meter data, status, event and fault report data from

intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) installed using standard

protocols like IEC-60870-5-103, IEC 61850 and MODBUS

TCP/IP and makes it available to local HMI and control centers

using LAN, WAN connections. The SCG interfaces the information

from field with the PC and also provides Remote Connectivity over

Ethernet LAN or over Modem Dial up/ Leased line connection for

remote monitoring.

In addition, we also have Power System Monitoring Recorders,

TESLA series that record data simultaneously in three time

domains: high speed transient fault (seconds), low speed dynamic

swing (minutes), continuous trend (10 second to 1 hour intervals)

and can be easily integrated with the existing SCADA solutions.
