Call To Worship (adapted from Psalm 17) Gil Gilliam
One: Listen to what’s right, Lord; pay attention to our cries! Listen closely to our prayers; our justice comes from you..
Many: We will behold your face in righteousness; we will be filled by your presence.
One: Our steps are set firmly on your paths; we will not stumble. We cry out to you because you answer us. So hear our prayer. Many: Show your faithful love in amazing ways because you are the one who saves us. All: Holy One, listen closely to our prayers. Our justice comes from you. Amen.
Passing of the Peace Pastor DeWayne
Opening Praise Set (1) Touching Heaven, Changing Earth; (2) Give Us Clean Hands
Scripture Reading: Genesis 32:22-31 Gil Gilliam
The same night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two maids, and his eleven children, and crossed the ford of the Jabbok. He took them and sent them across the stream, and likewise everything that he had. Jacob was left alone; and a man wrestled with him until daybreak. When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he struck him on the hip socket; and Jacob’s hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him. Then he said, “Let me go, for the day is breaking.” But Jacob said, “I will not let you go, unless you bless me.” So he said to him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Jacob.” Then the man said, “You shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with God and with humans, and have prevailed.” Then Jacob asked him, “Please tell me your name.” But he said, “Why is it that you ask my name?” And there he blessed him. So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, “For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life is preserved.” The sun rose upon him as he passed Penuel, limping because of his hip.
One: May God bless the reading of the word.

Response: Many Gifts, One Spirit All: Many Gifts, one Spirit, one love known in many ways. In our difference is blessing, from diversity we praise. One Giver, one Word, one Spirit, one God known in many ways, hallowing our days. For the giver, for the gifts, praise, praise, praise!

The Do Unto Others Fund is our way of reaching out past the walls of All God’s Children and providing our support to organizations making a difference across the world. The DUO fund recipient this week is:
RECLAIM - RECLAIM works to increase access to mental health support so that queer and trans youth may reclaim their lives from oppression in all its forms. Reclaim partners with youth ages 13 – 25 who are marginalized because of their gender identity, gender expression and/or sexual orientation. In addition to providing excellent care for youth, our vision is to change the landscape of access to care for queer and trans youth. We do this through deep practitioner development, training, education and outreach, and community partnerships at the intersection of gender and racial justice. Together, we raised the following amounts for
our DUO Fund recipients:
PFund AGC Scholorship: $990 AGC Benevolence Fund - $1213 Rainbow Health Initiative - $586
Holy Spokes Red Ribbon Riders - $729

“What is it that you call yourself? What is that name you can scarce speak for fear or shame? Scoundrel, cheat, or phony like Jacob? Unworthy, irresponsible, unfaithful? Discouraged or burnt-out? Divorced, deserted, or widowed? Coward or bully? Unloved or unloving? Disappointed or disappointing? Abused or abuser? Ugly or abnormal? . . . Names, as we know, can limit us, hurt us, even kill. But so also can they heal and make alive. And so a part of what we do each week, I believe, is to invite people to come and be reminded once again of our true name and new identity so that we may go out into the world as new persons, as God’s own beloved child” —David Lose

In Need of Prayer
Loving and merciful God, the One who sees, knows, and embraces us all, thank you for showing us your faithful love in amazing ways. Thank you for being present with us on our journey of discovery, repentance, and faith. Let our encounter with you lead to new beginnings and new opportunities. Search us and know us that we will no longer live in fear of judgment, rejection, or abandonment. Transform us in your holy presence that we may always be assured of your love and forgiveness. Awaken us to a life of affirmation and generosity. In the name of the One who blesses us beyond all we can ever imagine. Amen.
