What is NCSL?The National Conference of State Legislatures is the bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the states, commonwealths and territories. NCSL provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues and is an effective and respected advocate for the interests of the states in the American federal system.

What is the NCSL

Legislative Summit? Each summer, NCSL brings thousands of legislators and staff together for its Legislative Summit, the largest and most substantive meeting of its kind in the nation. The Legislative Summit provides more than 150 informative sessions and presents nationally renowned speakers on the most pressing issues. Speakers have included the president of the United States, congressional leaders, cabinet members and experts from universities, think tanks and the private sector.

Why target the states?Innovative, creative ideas for confronting and solving serious problems such as transportation funding, energy policy, immigration, higher education, healthcare and many others begin in the states. How lawmakers shape policies and buy products and services will affect the way you do business.

Products & ServicesIf you have a product or service to sell to the states, you need to exhibit at NCSL’s Legislative Summit. The states spend more than $100 billion a year on goods and services, such as office equipment and supplies, telecommunications, computer hardware and software, waste treatment and research.

IssuesAt the state level, 195,000 pieces of legislation are introduced biennially. Of these, 45,000 become law. If your organization is concerned about an issue, NCSL’s Legislative Summit offers you the premier opportunity to get your message to the right people.

4,000,000+ peopleIf your organization provides employee benefits--insurance, health care and educational opportunities--NCSL’s Legislative Summit allows you to reach state governments, often the largest employer in the state. Nationwide, state governments employ more than 4 million men and women.
