August 2019 Knightly News Dear Brother Knights:

As we prepare for another faith-filled year of service in action with our council, I will first take the opportunity to note how hon-ored I am to be leading this wonderful group of men that does so much for our parishes and the greater Philadelphia community. Second, I wish to thank the Past Grand Knights who have set an excellent example for me to follow since joining the Father Doyle Council 11+ years ago—Bob Kozloski, Sr., Mike Kelly, Matt Lendzinski, John Atkins, Rick Ray, and most recently Tom McHenry—our organization has thrived under their leadership,

and I hope to have the same effect over the next two years and beyond. In addition, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the two gentlemen—and I mean gentlemen—for whom if they were not, I would not be a Knight today—Ed Koza and Skip Lentz (God rest their souls)—these brothers lived the example of charity and sacrifice for the greater good and truly defined through their actions what it meant to be a Knight of Columbus. In that spirit I would like to thank each of YOU for of your efforts in helping this organization do all it can to help others--especially the Newly Elected Officers—congratulations and thank you!! (Officers’ Names are listed on the side of this page) I’d like to take the opportunity to welcome our newest Brother Knights—Michael Burns, Thomas Morehouse, Mark Ofenloch, and Kevin Rossi—as well as newly transferred Brother Knights—Father John Schiele, Father Dennis Fedak, Tony Ciccocelli, and Roman Tymczyszyn—we are very happy to have you as inte-gral parts of our council and are looking forward to your involvement. In conclusion I would sincerely and respectfully ask that if you haven’t been in-

volved in our council recently, please come back to a meeting, share your thoughts

LADIES AUXILIARY OF THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS #9715

The mission of the Ladies Auxiliary is to promote spiritual growth, enhance social enrichment, encourage good fellowship & love, and perform works of charity in support of

Corpus Christi & St. Rose of Lima parishes.

As we enter into our third year, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus are very excited about what we’ve accomplished as well as some new events we are undertaking. For example, we were active partici-pants in the recent “inaugural” Parish Picnic, an event that was incredibly successful and well received. It was gratifying and fun to have everyone come together to celebrate our parish community. We sincerely thank each and every one of you who helped to make it possible! We’d like to see the Ladies Auxiliary membership grow this year, and we encourage you to please consider joining and invite your friends to come check us out too! Membership is open to female parishioners age 18 and up. Don’t worry if you can’t attend all the meetings and/or events… that’s perfectly fine, no one expects 100% participation. There is no requirement for volunteer hours either – you can do as much or as little as you would like. We form committees for special projects and activities, and try to schedule committee meet-ings at convenient times for the participants who volunteer. We publish meeting minutes that can keep you informed on what happens at the general meetings, and we communicate via email and Facebook regarding events, activities, sign-ups, and faith-based items of interest. As an organization we are both flexible and welcoming: If there is something that is of interest to you we would love to have you join us!

A Family Prayer: Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, in you we contemplate the splendor of true love, to you we turn with trust.

Holy Family of Nazareth, grant that our families too may be places of communion and prayer, authentic schools of the Gospel, and small domestic churches.

Holy Family of Nazareth, may families never again experience violence, rejection, and division; may all who have been hurt or scandalized find ready comfort and healing.

Holy Family of Nazareth, make us once more mindful of the sacredness and inviolability of the family, and its beauty in God’s plan.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, graciously hear our prayer.

Amen.

Saint Rose of Lima Round Table

Over the last quarter, the Roundtable has supported our St. Rose Ministries and community through several activities

including: Social Justice Ministry, (Inter-Faith Housing Alliance Ambler Volunteer Day and St. Helena Food Pantry painting

project), Adult Formation Ministry (Family Movie Nights); Pro-Life Ministry (Guiding Star Ministries volunteer day), and Habi-

tat for Humanity (volunteer days at the ReStore). At St. Rose, we held the first Trivia Night, provided the Lenten Pasta Dinner

and escorted the procession for the Feast of Corpus Christi.

For the Fall of 2019, we will be continuing the Family Movie Nights, Guiding Star and Habitat ReStore events. We are also

planning our annual Baby Bottle Campaign, a Community Breakfast at St. Rose (September 8) and going back to St. Helena in

Olney to paint the floors. We are also continuing our Bakery Program. In 2018, the program delivered almost 14,000 lbs. of

baked goods to our needy neighbors in Norristown and Philadelphia. With this year’s expansion, we are already over 12,000 lbs.

with 5 months to go!

If you are interested in joining us, the Roundtable meets regularly: third Monday of each month in the St. Rose Teacher’s

Lounge at 7p. The meetings are relatively informal and a great opportunity to hear about what we have planned or help shape

our future plans. For additional information, please contact Pete Mazzeo at 215-205-8278 or [email protected]
