Have you addressed Retirement Living?

A Message From the

Director

It is both thrilling, and an honor to have spent the last several

months restoring and recreating Michael Bennett’s musical

masterpiece, A CHORUS LINE. There are very few shows that

have reached the pantheon of success, mythology and legacy

as the one you are about to see. Combine all that has gone

before us, with the talented local performers, artists, musicians

and technicians and you will understand the meaning of “One

Singular Sensation”!

I wish to express my humblest of thanks and greatest admiration

for our choreographer, Jessica Yahner, who has spent hours

upon hours studying original tapes and interviews in an attempt

to recreate Bennett’s dazzling, remarkable and intricate dance

steps. A dancer herself, Jess has worked hard to instill a

“dancer’s ethic” in our performers, a respect for the work, and

a tireless professional attitude of perfectionism. Her positive

“can-do”, “take no prisoners” attitude and her attention to de-

tail has no equal. My appreciation for her collaboration, friend-

ship and passion for A CHORUS LINE cannot be stated enough.

Thank you, for all that you are xoxo.

The rest of our creative team, Sharon, Tara, Steve, Abby,

Jacquee, Mike, Scott and Asher deserve kudos and thanks for

pulling together the rough edges and creating a diamond. Fi-

nally, our great sponsors, BEYONDANCING and LINDA and LAR-

RY BOOZER for providing financial and moral support when we

needed it most.

My hat is off to our cast of dancers who have worked so hard to

meet the challenge of this show that has a unique place in his-

tory. I thank them for their energy and dedication. They have

given me a great deal of pleasure. Tonight, they place them-

selves “on the line” for you. I know that you’ll love them as

much as I do.

About the Cast

Some of Julian’s favorite roles included Alonze in Cats, An-

drew/Gerard in American Idiot, Sebastian in Disney’s The Little

Mermaid, and Neleus in Mary Poppins to name a few. Julian

has worked on multiple productions as a choreographer, as-

sistant director and makeup designer in the Berks County ar-

ea. Julian also works as an ASA actor and SFX makeup artist

at one of the largest haunted house company on the east

coast - Shocktoberfest! When not in the theater, Julian can

be found in the dance studio training for hours on end.

CHRISTA SCHIMITSCH (Diana) is thrilled to make her Susque-

hanna Stage Co. debut in A Chorus Line. Her other communi-

ty and educational theater credits include Curtains, She

Loves Me, Scarlet Pimpernel, 42nd Street, and Beauty and the

Beast. Additionally, she has performed in opera productions

and scenes with OperaLancaster and Penn State Opera The-

ater. Christa continues to teach and perform while working at

Manheim Central High School, Trinity Lutheran Church and Big

Dream Creative Arts Studio.

EVANDER RAY (Mark) has had a love for music and perfor-

mance since a very young age, spending most of his time as

a child dressing in princess dresses and singing along to the

Hannah Montana theme song. As he got older, he learned to

love the arts for way more than just catchy Disney Channel

show tunes. Music and art became his safe place - some-

where for him to go to express himself and his emotions. It was

then that he realized music and performance was something

that he loved to do, which meant that pursuing it was impera-

tive. Not having an opportunity to experience music and the-

ater at his small private school, at the age of 14 he started

attending Eastern York High School, a larger public school

where the arts were given more attention. He as been in sev-

eral high school productions, including The Addams Family

and Fiddler on the Roof.

MACKENZIE SHIRK (Val) is honored to be portraying Valerie

Clark! She is excited to perform in her dream show with a sup-

portive and talented cast. Mackenzie began her love for the-

ater with the roles of King Louie (The Jungle Book) and The

Genie (Aladdin) in the Children’s Workshop Productions here

Page 9: August 11-13, 16-17 & 19-20, 2017

About the Cast

one of her bucket list roles alongside this talented cast! She

was last seen on stage in EPAC’s production of Hair as Crissy.

Previous credits at SSC include Little Shop of Horrors

(Ronnette/Choreographer) Godspell, Into the Woods (The

Baker’s Wife), Peter Pan (Tiger Lily) and 1776 (Martha Jeffer-

son). PSU credits include Lippa’s Wild Party (Kate), Little Shop

of Horrors (Audrey), Grease (Rizzo) and The Rocky Horror Show

(Janet Weiss). Thanks to Mom & Dad and Jim & Jacquee, for

all your love and support, and to her leading man on stage

and in life, Asher.

MICHELINA MCGRADY (Sheila/Dance Captain) holds a B.F.A.

in Dance from The Boston Conservatory. She has had the op-

portunity to perform professionally with several companies

including Neville Dance Theater and Roxanne-Lola Move-

ment Machine of NYC, and with her own company, Dance

Envoy in Italy and PA. Michelina will be choreographing for

her eighth year at Donegal High School and currently teach-

es dance in and around Lancaster. Outside of the studio,

Michelina is a physical therapist assistant at Rivera Physical

Therapy.

JORDAN MCKEY (Ensemble) will be a senior at Manheim Cen-

tral High School, where he participates in theater and choir,

along with numerous other clubs and organizations. Jordan

would like to thank Jim and everyone at SSC and all his

teachers/mentors/friends for continuously pushing him to be

his best. See him next in the ensemble of Evita with Prima The-

ater! Enjoy this ONE singular sensation!

MARTY MOORE (Don) is making his second stage appearance

at SSC. He is a seventh grade math teacher and coaches

football after school. Last summer Marty made his stage de-

but at SSC in Big River as Jim. Marty is grateful to be in this pro-

duction and working with this talented cast. He would like to

say thank you to everyone involved for all their help and en-

couragement in this journey.

JULIAN MORALES (Paul) is thrilled to be making his debut on

the SSC Stage! Julian has an amazing love for the arts. He

started working in theater at the age of 6. With over 30 theat-

rical productions under his belt, he is no stranger to the stage.

LINDSAY BRAHL (Lindsay) is excited to be a part of A Chorus

Line as her first production at Susquehanna Stage Co. She

was most recently seen in Frankenstein at Hershey Area Play-

house. Lindsay graduated from West Chester University with a

degree in theatre and a minor in dance. She would like to

thank her family and friends for all of their love and support

and Susquehanna Stage Co. for this amazing opportunity.

STACEY BURDICK (Ensemble) is thrilled to be dancing across

the stage in this production of A Chorus Line. You can usually

find her behind the scenes helping with costumes or dressing

the actors. She has learned that being behind the stage is as

exhilarating as being on it. Thank you to Clint, Maya, Wyatt,

Jim, Jacquee, Jess and Mr T. for believing in her. Love to you

all!

CHRIS KANE (Zach): Chris is very excited to join the ACL cast!
