AUDIENCE RESEARCH

By Nicole Riley

Page 2: Audience research

I wanted to know what people would like in a music magazine and why they would buy it. I ask twenty people between the age range of 15 – 22 because I wanted my music magazine to be for teenagers and young adults.

I got sufficient feedback and was able to put my results in a table to see the most popular answer for each question. This will help me to create a magazine that would be bought if I were to put it on sale.

I wanted to know what would be the best thing in my

magazine that would cause it to sell. I have found out that

people buy a music magazine because of the

images in it. I expected this and didn’t at the same time

as I would buy a music magazine for the information in it, not just for the pictures. I also came to the conclusion that the images within my

magazine would be of a high quality and look different to

each over so that the audience is still drawn in.

I wanted to see how often people buy music

magazine so I would know the best time to sell it. A

7/20 buy music magazines monthly but 7/20 also

haven’t bought a music magazine. So if I wanted

my magazine to sell I would make it a monthly magazine. I also have to

make it interesting enough for more people to buy it.

I wanted to know what would be the best price to sell my magazine for as

price can sway a reader to buy the magazine or not. Most 13/20 people have voted for the lowest price and this is understandable

as no one wants to pay a lot of money. This will also help

my magazine when it comes to takings because the audience are going to

go for the lowest price putting my magazine before

others because of the affordable cost.

The colour of the magazine is important

because the colour must be appealing to the reader for them to be persuaded to buy the magazine. If they don’t like the colour then they are less likely to buy it. This

shows that people like a variety of colours

instead of just a certain set of colours.

This is important information to know because you want to persuade a reader to buy your

magazine so you want to know that certain thing that

would persuade them. I have learnt that most people are

persuaded by the front cover this allows me to make my main focus to be my front

cover and to make sure it is appealing to the eye and

draws you .this in the long run would give me more takings from the magazine because I know what my audience get pulled in by causing more

copy's to be sold.

I wanted to know what type of artists people wanted in a music magazine, it

was between famous artists or unrepresented

artists or bands. Most people want a mixture of both so

this is what I will put in my music

magazine. Allowing it to be appealing to

my audience.

I didn’t give choices for this question because different

people like different artists and I wanted to know what these artists were. Out of twenty

people this is what they wrote down. This will give me an idea of what type of artist I could put in my magazine, or what sort of

style the audience likes. This would allow me to use my

models to give of a vibe of that celebrity such as using clothing like there's or poses that they have done in photo shoots or making them look like the by

using make up and hair creating a look tat is relatable for example giving someone

tanned bright red curly hair and dressing them in proactive

outfits.

If I was going to sell my magazine I wanted to know what the readers would love to see

in a music magazine

because that would interest them to buy it

again and again. It also helped me to see what would be good to put in

the magazine.
