ATTENTION WYLAND PARENTS!
Wyland School has formed a partnership with Office Depot as a provider for school supplies at a greatly reduced
cost. Let the PTO take care of shopping by Preordering school supplies for next year. Attached you will find a
list indicating the school supplies by grade level that the teachers have requested, along with a comparison of the
list price at Office Depot vs. the Wyland PTO Preorder price. This is a great way to save money and a trip to buy
the supplies.
WHAT DO WE NEED YOU TO DO? If you choose to take advantage of the Preorder you simply pay for your supplies now and on the first day of
school in August, your child(ren)’s supplies will be waiting on the desk in their new classroom. If you would like
to preorder, please send in the form below along with your payment in an envelope marked “PTO School
Supplies” by June 6. Checks may be made payable to Wyland PTO.
This is totally optional but, if you do not choose to participate, you will be responsible for purchasing the
requested supplies and sending them to school with your child on the first day of school
In addition, Office Depot is offering a 5% Back to Schools Reward program to Wyland. Throughout the school
year, any parent may purchase any item at Office Depot. When you reference Wyland’s I.D. #70084877, this
program will earn Wyland credit towards additional supplies to be used throughout the year.

Wyland 2014 Summer Reading Program
The Wyland PTO is excited to encourage reading over the summer months! Each student that reads at least 50 pages is eligible to enter for a chance to win a wonderful book. All the books that will be awarded will be displayed in the cases outside of the Main Office and the Multipurpose Room. All students who enter will receive a small prize for participating. In addition, one student from each grade level who reads the most will win a Gift Certificate to the Fall 2014 Wyland Book Fair!
Remember that magazines, newspapers, etc., are NOT included in the contest, so please do not record them. Also, incoming 2014 Kindergarteners are not eligible. The official launch of the 2014 Summer Reading Program begins on the last day of school and concludes on the first day of the Fall 2014 school year.
Attached is a Tally Sheet for students to record the books that have been read. For every book read, please document the book on the Tally Sheet. Since a student must read at least 50 pages, younger students may need to read more than one book to qualify. The Tally Sheet will assist in keeping track of the number of books read and the number of pages. The students will submit their Tally Sheets in the Fall, upon the completion of the Summer Reading Program. At that time, students will be given tickets to submit for the prize drawings.
This letter and the Tally Sheets can be found on the Hampton Township School District website under Wyland Weekly Packet - PTO Flyers.
In addition to Wyland’s Summer Reading Program, you are encouraged to check out the summer programs and offerings at the Hampton Community Library.http://www.hamptoncommunitylibrary.org
Have a great summer and Happy Reading!!!Cindy Kelly 412-953-4175Diana DiMaria 412-492-0521

Help Us Welcome New
Hampton Students and Families!
Become a Partner Family or Student Buddy and share
your Hampton knowledge
A few years ago, HTSD formed a district-wide Welcome Committee
designed to help new families as they transition into our Hampton
Schools.
In the Partner Family Program, current Hampton families are paired
with a new family who has recently registered with the district and
requested a “Partner Family”. This program generated a great deal of
positive feedback from our new families but we need your help to
continue.
We are looking for families who currently have children attending
Hampton schools and are interested in being part of this valuable
initiative.
By volunteering as a Partner Family you become a resource that new
families can turn to for answers when they have questions and to assist
with their adjustment to a new school.
All it takes is a few minutes of your time throughout the year. You begin
by contacting your assigned family to introduce yourself, answer any
questions, offer your expertise on “all things Hampton” and provide your
contact information. Throughout the year, periodically check in with
your Partner Family to keep them informed of events and activities
happening within the district and to see how they are adjusting. These
simple acts will make all the difference in welcoming new families to
Hampton!
-
In the Student Buddy Program, new students are paired with current
Hampton students from the same school.
We are looking for friendly, outgoing students who are entering
grades 1-12 in the Fall and who are willing to act as a Student
Buddy.
These “Student Buddies” meet the new student on the first day of school,
show them around the school, walk them to classes, introduce them to
friends, guide them through the cafeteria and sit with them at lunch, etc.
The Student Buddy should continue to act as a guide until the new
student feels comfortable in his/her new surroundings.
Sign up today by completing the attached form and returning it to
your child’s school office.
We hope that through these partnerships, new students and new families
will feel comfortable at Hampton right from the start and quickly form
friendships that will last for many years to come.
Thank you!
Wyland’s New Family Committee Co-Chairs

and
Jennifer Retsch 412-715-5326 [email protected]
Note: For Partner Families, every effort will be made to match families
that live in the same neighborhood and/or have children in the same
grades. For Student Buddies, every effort is made to pair the new student
with a current student in the same class, which lives in the same
neighborhood and shares similar interests.
