Ed Sheeran. The A-Team.Theres an extreme long

shot over a girls body. She seems dead by the way

her eyes are very wide open in the shot.

There is then a shot to the morning before in which

she is on a bench sleeping in the middle of a park.

Showing she is obviously homeless and very

troubled. She gets up and sets off walking.

She however seems quite happy. She is then sat on

the street outside shops selling magazines

(probably the big issue) in order to obviously make

her-self some money.

We see Ed Sheeran himself in this shot sit down

next to her after buying one of these magazines. We

think she is doing this in order to be able to pay

her rent so she doesnt have to sleep rough on parkbenches.

We then see a shot of the time passing by and she

is sat outside the shop and she is crying, showing

how she is obviously very fed up of this life.

We then see an over shoulder shot of her in the

mirror in which she is putting her hair up and then

putting on make up and cleaning herself up.

Next she is on the street corner and she is now

trying to make her money by prostitution. We feel

very sorry for her and for the fact she has had toresort to this extremity.

The car pulls up and she gets in. she then

goes back obviously to his house and we see her

take the money out his pocket, Then after this she

is led in his bed and we see her get up and leave.

We see her walking towards a door in what seems

to be some very run down flats. We see a shot of

the money in her hand and then someone taking it

and handing her a bag of cocaine.

We then see her taking the drugs and we still

feel sorry for her and how her life is spiraling

even more downwards than it already seemed!!

We then see the first extreme long shot we saw

in the beginning on the line an angel to die.

This shows how she was innocent and has now died

due to taking the drugs. The last shot we see

however is her face projected in the sky which is

clear with the sun shining and she is laughing and

happy. Probably showing some hope and that she is

probably happier and in a better place.

-Will she get in the mans car?-Why is she homeless?-Why is she there?

However none get answered apart from her getting

into the mans car.

Propp:

Not all of the 8 characters are portrayed in this

video. Therefore, this is not a typical narrative

system.

However.

The Hero: The Girl, her quest is surviving.

The Villain: Drugs, shes fighting against them asthey are what eventually kills her.

The Helper, Dispatcher and Donor: The man who gives

her drugs, he is the one that helps her on her way,

as the money should help her to survive.

Todrov:

The basic equilibrium theory is followed in this

music video.

Equilibrium: Sleeping rough, being homeless and

earning money through busking.Disruption: Sleeping with the man to get money and

get drugs.

Re-equilibrium: She dies. Therefore, no more debt,

homelessness or suffering. This is an alternative

re equilibrium. As the character usually survives,

but the last picture of the sky, provides and image

of hope and peace.

fragile vs strong: This is shown in the metaphor of

comparing the girl to a snowflake, as snowflakes

connote fragileness.

Summary: This isnt a typical music video, even

though it follows the typical narrative theories,

it contains a lot of hard-hitting issues, such as:

drugs, homelessness, prostitution and death. Unlikemost typical pop videos, which contain happy scenes

that have happy endings. This may be due to the

genre of music, this is an indie video. Where as,

the happy ones are usually pop.
