This is the highest award a community group can receive in the UK, and recognises and

celebrates the fantastic, tireless work carried out by everyone involved with Gorton Horti-cultural Society, Gorton Reservoir Allotment

Site and all our Community projects and events.

Racy veg could land cash prize (Article from Garden News magazine, March 2016)

Don't despair if your prize carrot is rather more preposterous than perfect, plant retailer Van Meuwen's new 'Rude Veg' competition could be just the solution. Whether it's a bulbous beetroot, perculiar parsnip or misshapen strawberry, Van Meuwen want to see what you've got!

GORTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY SHOW RULES: 1 All exhibits must be the bona-fide property of the exhibitor, and must

have been in his/her possession for 4 months prior to the show.except baked goods.

2 Maximum entries:- Three per class. 3 Exhibitors will receive, from the entry official, class-cards prior to staging,

and NO exhibits must be staged until these have been issued. 4 All entries to be made on entry forms provided, and will be accepted by

the Show Secretary or Assistant from, from 9am to 1pm on Saturday. 5 Vases will be provided by the Society; please ensure these are left with

the committee at the close of the show. 6 The room will be cleared of all persons (except officials) at 1pm

(Saturday) for commencement of judging at 1.15pm. 7 The judges have power to award additional prizes, or to withhold prizes

in the event of lack of merit, of any entry or insufficient entries in a given class, at their discretion. A judge's decision is final.

8 STRICTLY, NO EXHIBITS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE BENCHES

BEFORE THE CLOSE OF THE SHOW. 9 All trophies will be held and displayed, with winners name, by The Socie-

ty, and the winners will receive a replica. 10 Whilst every care will be taken of exhibitors' property, the Society will

not be held responsible for any loss. 11 All GIFT CLASS entries are deemed to be donated to the Society. 12 ENTRY FEES:- 30p per entry. Childrens classes:- FREE.

GORTON RESERVOIR ALLOTMENTS At present there is a waiting list for Gorton Reservoir Site. To enquire about a plot please visit the Society's Trading Centre on Sundays between 11am and 1pm. Rents are currently around £60.00 per year, with a half-price concession for Senior Citizens, Disabled and Unemployed persons.
