The Internship tested our intelligence and dedication. We were guided in learning cutting edge research and the complexities of scientific writing. I am very appreciative to all of our phenomenal Mentors,

who painstakingly listened to every question and went above and beyond to help us in our times of need. Overall, I believe that this program has given all of us an opportunity to grow. As a result, we have met new people, had new experiences, and incorporated our newfound wisdom into our lives and hopefully made ourselves better people. The combination of things I learned at the program truly makes it a unique program. It is multi-faceted and thus a valuable asset to any career path.”

Ali AlGonaim, Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia2015 Best Intern Award, 1st Place

“One of the best parts of this Internship was meeting new people from different countries. I enjoyed the scientific writing aspect because it allowed me to read articles in a more critical and focused way. As for bench research, it was my first hands-on-experience, and now I am educated in that aspect too. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience or people to help guide me.”

Haya AlFaris, AlFaisal University, Saudi Arabia2016 Best Intern Award, 1st Place

“The ACRM Summer Internship has equipped me with the essential tools to thrive in medicine. The expectations are communicated early in the program: excellence in all scholastic activities and professional behavior in the workplace. The faculty are also very encouraging as they motivated me to expand the boundaries of what I had thought were my limits. The writing project taught me how to write a concise yet comprehensive manner. The weekly

presentations taught me how to communicate effectively via careful speech and well designed powerpoint slides. Lastly, the interactions I had with the mentors helped me understand that work can be fun and exciting when there is excellent teamwork. Overall, I will take these skills and apply them in my pursuits of a career in medicine and biomed science.”

Albert Bui, Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine2017 Best Intern Award, First place

“Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of the best internship ever. I will always cherish all the best times I had with other interns and mentors. I completely enjoyed working with world-renowned scientists. It was not only helpful in advancing my scientific knowledge and skills but it significantly boosted my confidence in public speaking and improved my writing skills. The support and

encouragement from interns and mentors were beyond my expectations. It was truly the best experience of my life – an insightful and invaluable experience. I wish the internship could have lasted longer.”

Cleveland Clinic’s Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute is recognized worldwide for excellence in patient care, teaching and research. It merges Cleveland Clinic’s urology and nephrology programs. This year, U.S. News & World Report ranked our urology program No. 1 and the kidney disease program No. 2 in the nation.

About Cleveland ClinicNinety-two years ago, four physicians founded a new medical center in Cleveland. It was a nonprofit group practice where doctors from many specialties could collaborate for efficiency and better patient care. Their mission was “to care for the sick, investigate their problems and educate those who serve.” Located in Cleveland, Ohio, Cleveland Clinic is a nonprofit, multispecialty academic medical center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education. Today, with more than 1,400 beds on Cleveland Clinic main campus and 4,435 beds system-wide, Cleveland Clinic is one of the largest and most respected hospitals in the country.

Today, Cleveland Clinic is a main campus, eight community hospitals and more than 150 outpatient locations (including 18 family health centers) in northern Ohio, and facilities in Florida, Nevada, Toronto and Abu Dhabi. Our locations are linked by health information technology and critical care transport, getting patients to the right facility, at the right time, for the right care. Cleveland Clinic is organized into patient-centered institutes based on single diseases or organ systems. Each institute combines medical and surgical services at the same location under the same leadership to improve patient care and experience. Each institute is required to establish benchmarks and measure and improve quality. Institutes are also required to publish annual outcomes books showing volumes, results, innovations, publications and other information relevant to patients and referring physicians. Cleveland Clinic integrates its far-flung system with an extensive electronic medical records system. This system includes participating community physicians and patients who are able to access test results and portions of their medical record remotely via the Internet. Cleveland Clinic’s model of medicine has made it possible for us to achieve cost savings on a vast scale over the past several years. Our mantra is “Patients First.” Our motto is “To Act as a Unit.” Our goal is to give every patient the best outcome and experience. That’s the Cleveland Clinic way.
