9 The Wasauksing Wind Energy Partners, Wasauksing First Nation, SkyPower Corp. and Citizens Wind (“the Partners”) are commencing an environmental screening of the Wasauksing North Wind Park, to be located within the northeast part of Parry Island, Ontario, as shown in the figure below. This Park is being developed in response to the Ontario Ministry of Energy’s mandate to procure 2500 MW of renewable power generation. Park Description The Partners propose to develop a small scale wind park up to 10 MW. Project Partners The project is being developed by the Wasauksing First Nation, SkyPower Corp., a leading independent renewable energy developer in Canada, and Citizens Wind, the Wind Power development affiliate of Citizens Energy Corporation, a non-profit energy company based in the U.S. The proponents possess proven expertise in developing large-scale wind and solar power parks. SkyPower has interests in over 70 wind and solar projects at various stages of development across 12 provinces in Canada and U.S. states. Citizen’s Wind has more than 2000MW under development across North America. The Environmental Screening Process The Wasauksing North Wind Park is subject to the Environmental Screening Process for electricity projects as outlined in the Ontario Ministry of the Environment’s “Guide to Environmental Assessment Requirements for Electricity Projects” (March 2001) and Ontario Regulation 116/01. This notice is to inform you that the Partners are commencing an environmental screening of the Wasauksing North Wind Park. The Environmental Screening Process involves identifying potential environmental effects, developing mitigation measures, consulting with agencies and the public, and preparing an Environmental Report at the end of the screening for review.
