Analyze Learners
• The first step is to know your learners.
• Use general characteristics and specific competencies to identify your students ability.
• General characteristics– Age– Grade Level
• Specific– Prior Knowledge– Skills– Attitudes about topic
• Learning Styles – Auditory– Visual– Tactile

• Statements describing what the learner will do as result of instruction.– Focus on the learner not
teacher– Use behaviors that deal
with real world concerns– Use the ABCD format

State Objectives- ABCD
• Audience- specify the learners who whom the objectives is intended.
• Behavior-needs to be demonstrated as an observable, measurable behavior, or real world skill.
• Condition- what tools, aids, equipment, etc. will the students have and what environment will they be in.
• Degree- how well do you want them to be able to demonstrate their mastery.

Select Media and Materials
• Media should be chosen based on student need
• Has to align with objectives.
• Must match curriculum. • Good quality?• Provide learner
participation?• Will it be effective?

Utilize Media and Materials
• Preview the material– Never use anything you
have not checked out.
• Prepare the material– Make sure you have
everything you need and that it all works.
• Prepare the environment– Set up the classroom so
that everything will work
• Prepare the learners– Give the students an
overview. – Explain how they will use
the materials and be evaluated.
• Provide the learning experience– Teaching should be an
experience not an ordeal.– Effectively communicate
the material.

Require Learner Participation
• Make sure that learners are taking an active role in the learning process.
• Use games, group work, presentations, etc.
• Students need to experience the learning when using technology.

Evaluate and Revise
• Evaluate student performance– Decide how you will
determine if they have met the objectives.
– Assessment
• Evaluate media components– How will you determine
if the media tools were effective?
• Evaluate instructor performance– How will you decide if
your own instruction was effective?
