Describe two ways in which the lives of workers changed in Nazi Germany between 1933 and
1939.
Below are two methods used by the Nazis to consolidate (strengthen) their power in Germany:

Single Award:
A mock exam will be set during the assessment week in November.
Pupils will sit the official GCSE module at the end of February.

Double Award:
There will be 3 exams, 1 for each science (Biology / Chemistry / Physics) during the November
assessment week.
These will cover all topics taught to date from September.
Pupils will sit the official GCSE module at the end of May.

SCIENCE
You will be answering one question on writing for purpose and audience.
You will be given 55 minutes to complete this question and it will be marked out of 87.
You can revise by looking over work completed in class and your teachers’ comments about your
practice work.

TECHNOLOGY
Assessment 1 for Technology will take the form of contuinual assessment.
The drainage basin: a component of the water cycle:
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the elements of the drainage basin and their inter-
relationships.
Identify and define the characteristics of a drainage basin.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how gradient, depth, width, discharge and load
change along the long profile of a river and its valley.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the processes of erosion / transportation / deposi-
tion.
Explain the formation of the following river landforms using annotated cross-sectional diagrams:
– waterfall;
– meander, including slip-off slope and river cliff; and
– floodplain and levees;
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the physical and human causes of flooding in the
context of one case study Somerset Levels 2014

GEOGRAPHY
This exam will be made up of questions from the GCSE Exam Paper.
Use notes in your book, along with any separate research or information to help you structure your
revision.
You should be practicing questions in suggested times given on the weeks leading up to Assess-
ment One. The night before will not be sufficient time to prepare for getting full marks in this exam.
1(a) Spend about 10 minutes (6 marks)
Briefly outline the ideas which you have researched for a production of Blood Brothers with
reference to:
The historical context of the play; and
The form and style of the play.
1(b) Spend about 10 minutes (12 marks)
With reference to a live or recorded theatre event which you have seen, suggest one lighting
idea which could be used in your production.
Write down the title of the theatre event which you saw;
Describe the idea from this event;
Analyse how you could use this idea in your set text; and
Evaluate what you hope to achieve for your audience.
2(A) and (B) Spend about 30 minutes’ overall (12 marks + 12 marks)
Draw and Label a costume sketch for (you’ll be given a character and specific scene on the
day of exam). You should make reference to:
Colour, shape, material, make-up; and
Any appropriate accessories and personal properties (props)
Justify your choice of ideas presented in part (a).
You should include:
The period in which the play is set;
The social status of the character; and
One appropriate quotation to support your answer.
3 (b) Spend about 15 minutes (14 marks)
As a director, give the actors some advice on how they could perform the extract. In your an-
swer refer to:
The mood and context;
The use of one rehearsal idea; and
The text.
For question 3, you’ll be given a short extract from one of the scenes in Act 1. In bullet point one,
you’ll describe what’s happening in the scene and the mood (emotions) of the characters in that
particular scene is. In bullet point two, you name a rehearsal method (thought tracking, con-
science alley, hot seating or off text improvisation) tell the actors why it’s useful for this scene and
then give an example of the method in action. Bullet point three means that you’ve to use some
quotes when explaining your points in bullet points one and two.
