Asian Paper Bangkok 2016 took place from 1 to 3 June 2016 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) in Thailand. The event gathered 93 exhibiting companies representing key industry leaders from 19 countries and regions from across the entire pulp, paper, packaging, corrugated and printing industries. The most comprehensive trade show dedicated to the paper and paper-related industries in the region attracted 2,587 participants from 48 countries and regions during this three day event.

Alongside the trade show, two conferences offered a wealth of information with up-to-date industry market trends and proven technical innovative sessions. A strong start was given by the Senior Management Symposium and its compelling theme: Leading Growth & Long-Term Sustainability through Global Collaboration, followed by the New Applied Technology Conference, themed Engage in Paper Technology Innovation Exchange and its wide range of technical papers. The conferences successfully concluded with 235 conference delegates.

This years’ Asian Paper also gave all attendees and exhibitors several invaluable business networking opportunities through different programmes: the VIP, Hosted Buyers and Business Matching Programmes and also the Mill Visit to SCG Packaging.

CONFERENCE

The Senior Management Symposium opened with a high-level panel discussion on Sustainability, Outlook and Trends for the Asian Paper Markets, featuring key industry leaders from APRIL, SCG Packaging and UPM Paper Asia.

A special session was dedicated to Certification and invited representatives from IKEA, PEFC, Kemira and FSC shared their thoughts and best practices. The well-attended PEFC Sustainable Seminar- held over ½ day – discussed Thailand’s certification progress towards the PEFC Alliance.

The Senior Management Symposium concluded successfully with a full session dedicated to the Future of the Asian Paper Industry.

‘Engage in Paper Technology Innovation Exchange’ was the main theme for the New Applied Technology Conference. Presentations highlighted the latest technological breakthrough in the pulp, paper, packaging and corrugated industries. Areas covered in the 11 different presentations included:

- Papermaking and Rebuilds- Automation and Analysis- Energy and Environmental Issues- Calendering, Coating and Cutting- Fiber Supply, Raw Material and Water- Pulping, Recycling and Recovery- Packaging Technology

The New Applied Technology Conference concluded on a high note, with an animated Question & Answer session on technical issues faced by the pulp and papermakers in the region.

‘Leading Growth & Long-Term Sustainability through Global Collaboration’ adressed at

HOSTED BUYER PROGRAMMEAsian Paper 2016 welcomed 16 Hosted Buyers from Myanmar. Headed by the President of the Myanmar Pulp and Paper Industry Association, the delegation included members of the MPPIA were owners and Senior Managers of paper, corrugated and tissue mills as well as paper distributors.

BUSINESS MATCHING APPLaunched for the first time at Asian Paper, an exclusive pre-event Business Matching App enhanced the exhibitors and pre-registered visitors’ experience by promoting and helping attendees to connect and pre-arrange onsite meetings and better explore business opportunities.

A total 575 meeting requests were sent. Meetings were conducted at the exhibitors’ stands throughout the show.

MILL VISIT An exclusive paper mill tour was organised to the SCG Packaging site and took place on the day before the opening of the show. 32 visitors had the privilege to visit this state-of-the-art packaging mill to gain a better understanding of paper making, as well as the opportunity to meet and discuss working methodologies with SCG specialists onsite. We would like to thank SCG Packaging - the first manufacturer of high-quality packaging paper in Thailand and the largest manufacturer in Southeast Asia - for providing an invaluable learning and networking experience.
