About the Project:

Removal of asbestos containing pipe insulation residue from within the Boiler House at a Primary

School.

Following a previous asbestos removal operationthat was undertaken to a very poor standard,Deconstruct were appointed by the client’sconsultant to remove all remaining asbestosinsulation debris from within the boiler house.

The Deconstruct team of operatives working underthe direction of our Site Supervisor, carefullyremoved all visible traces of asbestos debris usinghand held scrapers and wire brushes.

The boiler house was then subject to a rigorous clearance test by the client’s consultant before deemed clean enough for re-occupation.

Project Challenges:

Whilst all plant in the boiler house was isolatedprior to the commencement of our works, the boiler house remained very congested and working space was tight.

Any surfaces that did not have residue onthem were pre-cleaned and sheeted over.

All other surfaces including walls, ceilings, pipework and plant were cleaned.

Works were programmed over the summer recess and it was imperative that they were satisfactorily completed on time to ensure thatthe boiler’s and heating plant were operational for the first day of term.
