Mood Board – Front cover

I’ve picked out these magazines as I love rock music and these are all rock magazines. The poses and colours used on the front pages are creative and create a specific atmosphere. Also, the way the magazines have written the masthead is different to other magazines, which in turn catch the readers eye and attention. As well as this, I think the way they have only one or two images per page is powerful and makes the magazine look more professional. Saying this, the magazines are purposely made to look unprofessional to catch a certain type of reader.

Mood Board - contents

I like these contents pages as they are all very image heavy and I think images are extremely important in magazines because they can have a bigger affect than the actual text content. Also, the layouts are all different, my favourite layout id probably ‘Kerrang!’ I like the card colours used and the editor note.

Mood Board – Articles

I like these magazine articles as although they have a lot of text, images dominate the page yet again. My favourite article layout is the far right one which is actually an ‘NME’ article. The arrange of colours and images used attract my attention and make me want to carry on reading. There is a lot going on and to take in in the picture used, however, I think this works well and relates to the magazine very well.
