ASEAN  Regional   Forum  Disaster   Relief  Exercise   (ARF   DiREx)  2011   is  a   joint  training  event  of  disaster  management   in  the  context  of  the  ASEAN  Regional  Forum  (ARF)  or   the  countries  in  the  ASEAN  region.

ImplementaCon   of  ARF  DiREx  2011   aimed  to   increase  the  2  (two)   aspects   of   coordinaCon,   ie   coordinaCon   between  civilian  and  military  in  the  field  of  disaster  management  and  response,   as   well   as   coordinaCon   between   the   disaster  affected  country  with  the  donor  countries.

For  the  main  elements  of  the  exercises,  acCviCes  focused  on  the   coordinaCon   of   acCviCes   in   post   disaster,   evacuaCon  acCviCes   and   idenCficaCon   of   vicCms,   medical   care   and  relocaCon  of  the  vicCms,  based  on   the  scenario  earthquake  followed  by  a  tsunami  that  hit  North  Sulawesi.

PROJECT

Traces of Homes.

Page 20: Ary sendy project excerpts1-updated jan 2015

One  of  programs  released  by  Jakarta’s  government  in  2003  to   resolve  flood   in   the  city   is  developing   canals   in  eastern  part   of   Jakarta.   The   canal’s   project   was   planned   to   be  finished   in   2010.   To   make   this   project,   city’s   government  should  free  the   lands   that   consist   of  eleven  big  districts   in  East  Jakarta  and  two  big  areas  in  North  Jakarta.  This  project  is  known  by  ciCzens  as  BKT  (Banjir  Kanal  Timur/East  Canal).

SystemaCcal  evicCon  run  for  the  sake  of  urban  plan  always  creates  some  paQern  of  changes  in  the  city  that  never  seen  before.   I   could   discover   various   new   forms   created   from  spaces   where   its   habitants   had   gone   away.   This   urban  phenomenon   provokes   many   quesCons   about   the   people  that  had  lived  and  seQled  there,  as  well  as  how  memory  of  every   each   room   inside   their   houses   that   will   be  disappeared  forever.

A   documentaCon   of   Offshore   Oil   Drilling   Project   in   the  Makassar   Strait   by   PT   Total   Indonesia   in   2011-‐2012.   The  process   includes   a   variety  of  construcCon  work  done   in   the  area  of  land;   to  the  installaCon  process  in  the  middle  of  the  ocean.

To  work  on  projects  with  a  high  safety  risk  such  as  this,  one  must   refer   to   the   key   principles   for   safety.   Each   worker  engaged  in  this  project,  has  previously  been  specially  trained  and  equipped  with  the  knowledge  related  to  procedures  and  security  principles  for  doing  this  job.

PROJECT

Stories From Bajawa.

Page 31: Ary sendy project excerpts1-updated jan 2015

Bajawa  city,  which  is  located  in  the  district  Ngada,  East  Nusa  Tenggara   Province—classified   as   very   ferCle,   given   its  posiCon  on  volcanic  path  that  stretches  from  various  islands  such   as   Sumatra,   Java   and   Nusa   Tenggara   islands   to   the  Maluku  islands.  The  series  of  mountains,  hills  and  valleys  is  a  typical  topography  of  Ngada.

Bena  is  one  of  the  tradiConal  village  in  Bajawa.  Here  we  can  see   a   number   of   megalithic   cultural   heritage.   As   well   as  various   types  of  megalithic  stones  which  are  sCll  used  today  for  various  tradiConal  rituals  can  also  be  seen  here.

There  are  nine  tribes  living  in  this  village;  in  the  40  tradiConal  houses.  The  majority   profession   of  the  male  populaCon  are  farmers  while  women  produce  fabrics  with  woven  method.

Weaving  acCvity  seems  to  be  a  characterisCc  of  almost  every  ethnic  community  in  East  Nusa  Tenggara,  including  Bajawa  community.  Here,  these  acCviCes  popularly  named  as  "Mane  Tenu  /  Seda  Tenu"  and  performed  exclusively  only  by  women  (both  the  mother  and  young  women  /  girls).

PROJECT

Rapid Development of East Kalimantan.

Page 38: Ary sendy project excerpts1-updated jan 2015

With  abundant  natural  resources  such  as  gas,  oil  and  mineral,  East   Kalimantan   Provincial   Government   did   not   find   any  difficulty   in   financing   the   development   of   various   modern  faciliCes   of   the   province.   Since   2008,   a   variety   of   projects  ranging  from  the  manufacture  of  buildings,  roads  and  bridges  massively  built.

Danger   of   the   environmental   destrucCon   is   one   of   the  considerable   threat   due   to   the   increasingly   massive   coal  mining   exploitaCon;   marked   by   the   increasing   number   of  major   projects   in   the  mining   sector   which   is   supported   by  local  governments.

There   are   a   lot   of   great   quesCons   that   arise,   related   to   a  variety   of  modern  development   that   is   currently   happening  in  East  Kaliamantan:  If  we  are  unable  to  see  that  in  managing  the  natural   resources;  we  should   also   consider   and   respect  the   wisdom   of   life   of   the   local   community   (especially   the  Dayak)  which  is  an  indigenous  tribe  in  East  Kaliamantan,  who  had  lived  very  close  to  nature  for  a   long  Cme?  Is  this  kind  of  development   they   need?   Are   we   just   going   to   repeat   the  mistakes   of   previous   generaCons   who   only   makes   the  indigenous   tribal   communiCes   as   tourism   objects   even   in  their  own  homeland?
