GRADE 5/6 CAMP
GRADE 3/4 CAMP
KIALLA CENTRAL PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER Page 3
Welcome back to our Grade 5 / 6 students who
were on camp last week. They headed down to
Camp Wyuna at Queenscliff with Kialla West.
Despite the weather being unreliable a good time
was had by all. Thank you to Mr Van Reit from
Kialla West for organizing the camp. A special
thank you to Mr Zito & Mrs Opie who went on camp
with our 5 / 6 students. Camps are a valuable and
important part of our school curriculum.
On Monday 14th October, 4 of our students
participated in the District Athletics Carnival:
Ella Kerr
Shot Put - 3rd
800m - 5th
Kasey Ryan
800m - 7th
Molly Kennedy
800m - 3rd
Hurdles - 4th
Mollie Kerr
800m - 5th
These were fantastic achievements by our girls,
considering we do our athletics in Term 1. Ella and
Mollie just missed out on qualifying for their events
with the top 4 in running events and the top 3 for the
other events including hurdles qualifying for the next
level.
Congratulations to Molly Kennedy who has
qualified for the 800m event at the Regional
Athletics Carnival in Albury, this coming Friday.
Good luck Molly! Thank you to the Kerr, Kennedy
and Ryan families for getting the girls to and from
this event.
Next Tuesday 22nd October, is our final
curriculum day for the year. This is the one that
we had to re-schedule from 31st July because our
presenter was sick. Students are not required at
school so please ensure you have arrangements in
place.
Our grade 3 / 4 students go on camp from
Wednesday 23rd to Friday 25th October.
Mrs Rieniets and I will be attending Camp
Currumbene with staff and students from Kialla
West. There are still a few students who have not
yet paid for camp - this was due last Friday. Full
payment must be received by Thursday 17th
October. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Last term, Jane Weston
completed a course for Business
Managers at the Bastow Institute. She was required
to undertake a project to improve an element of our
school’s operations relating to her position. As a
result, I am proud to announce that we are
introducing a phone application called Tiqbiz. This
is a school application designed for newsletters,
calendar events , reminders etc. It is for iPhones,
Androids & PC’s. Instructions on how to download
this application is attached to this week’s newsletter.
This is a secure application that families must sign
up to if you would like to access this service.
Congratulations Jane, this application will further
strengthen communication between school and
home.
I would like to also remind parents to access our
website at: www.kiallacentral.ps.vic.edu.au
We will continue to develop these communication
tools to keep our school community informed. Your
feedback is appreciated.
At the start of Term 4, Heather Adderly reached
another milestone at Kialla Central Primary School.
She started her 25th year of service as our Outside
of School Hours Care Coordinator. I’m guessing

that this would put our Outside of School Hours
service as one of the longest running services in our
area. Congratulations Heather we are very lucky
to have you!
Our Active After Schools Community
Program started this week. Monday’s
activity is tennis and Wednesday’s is
circus skills. Students have afternoon tea form
3.15pm to 3.30pm and then participate in the pro-
gram from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. It is great to
see a high level of
interest in this program. Well done!
Thanks to Terry Dohnt for mowing our school
grounds over the weekend. He also does various
maintenance jobs around the school to ensure our
grounds look fantastic. Thanks Tez!
There are still a few odd jobs that need to be done
around our school. If you have a spare hour or two
please let me know.
As we have a Curriculum Day next Tuesday and I
will be on camp, there will not be a newsletter next
week. I apologize for any inconvenience.
A large blue eski (on wheels) is homeless after our
Bunnings BBQ. If this is your eski you can collect it
from the office.
Finally, congratulations to Gwen, Conrad, Callea &
Ella Fepuleai on the safe arrival of their
son / brother Pat born on Thursday 10th October.
Mum and bubs both doing well.
