ARTS FUNDRAISING & PHILANTHROPY PROGRAMME : SEP 2014 – MAR 2015 WELCOME

The Arts Fundraising and Philanthropy Programme came into existence in 2013 as a result of a Catalyst grant from Arts Council England and as part of their ‘Transforming Arts Fundraising’ programme. Our aim is to improve the perceptions of the arts as a charitable cause and enhance fundraising practice, encouraging leadership and entrepreneurialism.

Working with trustees, leaders, senior managers and emerging talent, our ambition is that the programme will inspire, train and develop people at all levels, helping to achieve a networked, skilled and resilient arts workforce.

Our training and events programme for 2014–15 offers a wide range of opportunities for people working in the arts at all stages of their career, across different kinds of organisations.

I’m confident that all of these opportunities will help arts professionals and organisations to achieve their fundraising goals, and I hope that you will find something that is relevant for you and for your team.

ABOUT THE NATIONAL OCCUPATIONAL STANDARDS

The National Occupational Standards set out the skills that staff and volunteers who are responsible for raising funds for their organisation should have, as well as what they should know and understand in order to do their job well.

The fundraising standards have been structured to make it easy for users to identify standards that may be relevant to their role.

Find out more about the National

Occupational Standards at

a-m-a.co.uk/culturepro

Helping you build your arts fundraising career

Arts Fundraising & Philanthropy has been working with the Arts Marketing Association to create an online professional development plan called Culture-Pro.

Culture-Pro is is a unique tool for arts fundraisers. It is a self-assessment tool to help you to build a tailored professional development plan.

Culture-Pro highlights your strengths, achievements and training needs, and automatically suggests free online resources to help you develop your skills and knowledge.

Culture-Pro is underpinned by a set of National Occupational Standards for Arts Fundraising, and all our fundraising training has been aligned to match the skills highlighted in this toolkit.

ARTS FUNDRAISING & PHILANTHROPY PROGRAMME : SEP 2014 – MAR 2015 18

The Arts Fundraising Fellowship Programme, the first of its kind in the UK, aims to create the next generation of leaders and development directors skilled with the vision, entrepreneurial expertise and ingenuity to make significant difference to the arts fundraising landscape.

Year 1 Fellowships (2013/14)In autumn 2013, we recruited 15 Arts Fundraising Fellows who have since been working in the Development Department of their Host Organisation, as well as gaining experience with other arts organisations in the region and participating in a diverse training programme. All have had responsibility for fundraising and have achieved excellent results. The London and South West Fellows are managed by Cause4 and the North Fellows are managed by DARE: Opera North & the University of Leeds.
