Founded in 2000, Art Toronto is Canada’s International fair for modern and contemporary art, located in the city’s downtown core. The fair provides unique access to the Canadian art market, and is one of the most important annual art events in Canada.

In its 15 years Art Toronto has welcomed over 600 exhibiting modern and contemporary galleries. Gallery applications are reviewed by the selection committee, comprised of a diverse group of leading Canadian and international gallerists. Applications are received in the following fair sections;

MAIN

Established modern and contemporary galleries showing a broad range of

work in various mediums.

VERGE

A newly-created section for young galleries showing recent work by contemporary artists that has not been previously

exhibited in Toronto.

SOLO

A newly-created section for both modern and contemporary galleries wishing to present an exhibition of work by a single artist in an intimate booth

setting.

Not-For-Profit and Cultural Institutions

These applications are open to non-commercial art spaces wishing to present an exhibition exemplary of their organization’s mandate.

Since the fair’s inception, the Opening Night Preview at Art Toronto has been a unique and important benefit for the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). This event has raised close to $5 million dollars to support the AGO’s compelling exhibition and education programs. Each year the Art Gallery of Ontario dedicates a portion of these funds to purchase artwork at the fair and has added close to 40 works to their collection from the Opening Night Preview.
