TSG SENDS (September 18, 2020)

Army Medicine Family,

I hope this week’s note finds you well. As I continue to watch the Nation’s COVID-19 numbers, I am happy that the Nation has seen a 49% decrease in seven-day averages of new cases since late July. Health and Human Services also reported decreases in both deaths and hospitalizations this week. Keep up your vigilance and encourage those around you to do the same. The latest information is available from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) website at: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

I know what a great challenge it is for you to operate under pandemic conditions for this length of time and I want to share some resources. The Army is joining the nation in observing September as National Suicide Prevention Month. The Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) is hosting a webinar titled “Self-care and resiliency in the time of COVID-19 and beyond.” To register use the following link: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=CljXn3JknE2hQtEx06ehFqm5C99QOItFlvUmITr3pDpURTRNRjMwSEU2M1pOMlNDU1RCRDc0Wkg4SC4u

I hope you had to opportunity to listen to LTG Laura Richardson, Commanding General of U.S. Army North (ARNORTH) as part of our leadership lecture series that was broadcast today. ARNORTH‘s top priority remains providing medical care support for COVID-19 to Texas with the 62nd Medical Brigade as the headquarters for all medical units in Texas. I am thankful to have her speak with us and share her experience and knowledge.

These sessions are important to me because believe there is much to learn from our senior leaders. The perspective and insights of LTG Richardson and our previous invited guests, are a valuable learning opportunity for us all, regardless of your experience or leadership level. When possible, please continue to join these leadership lectures.

I also want to remind everyone that due to COVID-19, AUSA made the decision to conduct this year’s meeting virtually October 13-16, but the purpose of Army participation in the forum remains the same, to enhance Soldier and leader professional development and to inform and educate key audiences about the Army. Stay safe out there!

CHAPLAIN: NATIONAL SUICIDE AWARENESS PREVENTION MONTH (September 16, 2020)
