ARMY MEDICINE WEEK IN REVIEW (CONT.)

TSG SENDS (August 13, 2020)

Army Medicine Family,

Thanks to all of you who were able to join our virtual town hall this week. Today, we celebrate the small victories. This week, the U.S. is reporting a more than 12% decrease in new cases of COVID-19. That’s good news. We, of course, would like to continue to see weekly decreases in cases and increases in our recovery numbers.

In order to do that, we must do our part to execute the disciplines of social and physical distancing and follow the CDC guidance for prevention. This not only helps protect ourselves and our families, but also helps protect the force. Force health protection is a priority, and we can never fail to remain vigilant.

Army Medicine continues to uphold a high level of excellence as we execute our mission in various locations. CSM Hough and I have been conducting “battlefield circulation,” and Army Medicine is blessed by the number of unsung heroes who quietly do their jobs everyday with professionalism and dignity. We see their pride in wearing the MEDCOM patch.

We have entered unprecedented times in military medical history where medics, doctors, nurses, respiratory techs, lab techs, logisticians, and medical support staff are at the table. We are listening to their ideas and recommendations about implementing plans to support our beneficiaries. Understand, that each of you is a combat multiplier that allows us towin--even if you’re working remotely. Our Army Chief of Staff has a “saying” that I love. He says that we cannot telework to battle and he is correct. Yet, as a headquarters staff, we can in fact telework and will continue to do that as is necessary while we continue to fight this invisible enemy. While we continue to slowly execute our return to the work place plan, our focus remains on safety and protection of the workforce. In the plan, we are still maximizing telework while continuing the mission and protecting the force.

I am proud and thankful for the team that we have. We are in unprecedented times. Army Medicine is an instrument of power. It is a combat power that the Army can deploy today-domestically and anywhere on the globe. As I always say, I am biased but I could not be more proud of this team.

Stay safe out there!

Army Medicine is Army Strong!

COS SENDS (August 14, 2020)

HQ MEDCOM Staff, JBSA

I know there have been lots of rumors circulating reference moving from your current building to another so I want to share with you that we are in the initial planning stages of preparing to consolidate the staff located at JBSA, FSH, TX from 9 separate facilities into 2 co-located facilities. The two facilities are located on Stanley Road near the FSH Theater in the area commonly referred to as the “IMCOM Quad.” Once the planning efforts have been completed, the moves will enable us to improve operational efficiency of our teams as well as reduce leased space. To be clear, this move will not affect personnel in Falls Church or the NCR.

No specific details are available at this time, to include timelines, but as plans develop and decisions are made we will ensure bargaining obligations will be met to support a smooth transition and I will pass the information on to you and your leaders. If anyone has any specific questions, pls send to me and I will address them.

Thanks for all you do to make Army Medicine, Army Strong.

CHAPLAIN INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE (CHAP TALK) - THE IMPORTANCE OF RESILIENCY (AUGUST 14, 2020)

Ladies and Gentlemen in OTSG and MEDCOM,

The Command Chaplain, CH (COL) Ronald Cooper and our team hope that you are having a great week as we enter another weekend. I have drafted the latest Inspirational Devotional (on the paper I borrowed CH Cooper’s “CHAP Talk” heading), entitled “The Importance of Resiliency.” You may find it at the Chaplain SharePoint, https://amp.amedd.army.mil/com/MEDCCO/SitePages/Home.aspx, under the Announcements section in the center of the homepage. It is with the other devotionals we have written as a team since the beginning of COVID-19. If anyone is interested in joining us on MS Teams for our Tuesday and Thursday morning devotions in “The Purpose Driven Life,” I have a slide in the same section with the information. We have decided to extend out the time on MS Teams instead of face-to-face in the HQs building thru at least 8 October. Just send CH Robb or I an e-mail if interested in joining.

Many Blessings to Everyone,

CH Johnson
