Ministers are needed for each Christmas Mass. Due to COVID re-strictions on attendance, there will be several masses offered, there-fore requiring many hands to help make it happen. Please pray about when and where you can help out. You can sign up online here or by
contacting the Parish Office.
As per the new Okotoks Bylaw, masks are now mandatory in all public spaces. Therefore, masks are required when coming to the Parish Office and during Adoration. For mass, pre-registration is requested and we will be locking the doors when mass begins to allow for the removal of masks while seated in your pews. Howev-er, the Diocese of Calgary strongly recommends to the faithful to, as much as possible, continue to wear the mask while seated in the pews during the Mass. This will help better protect one another in preventing the transmission of the flu and COVID-19. However, exemptions under the municipal bylaws will continue to be re-spected without requiring proof of eligibility. This gesture of wear-ing the mask is a sign of charity and concern for each other’s health. Please see the new poster in the church which highlights a number of health and safety measures to help prevent the spread of the flu and COVID-19. Thank you for your cooperation.
Ministry Opportunities
Audio/Visual - help with sound during mass, as well as running the PowerPoints before and dur-
ing mass.
Hospitality Desk & Welcoming Committee- being present at our hospitality desk in the Nar-thex to answer questions, complete registrations, pass on items people are picking up, and being a welcoming presence for all parishioners. Calling new Parishioners to welcome them to our com-
munity.
St. James Catholic Women’s League (CWL) Memberships for 2021 are now available. The amount is
$30.00. Place your cash or cheque in an envelope marked “St. James CWL” and drop it off at the parish office or in the Sunday collection
basket. The third option is a bank e-Transfer to [email protected]. If you have any questions, please give me a
call at 403-938-2369 or send an email.
Memorial Wall This year, instead of a book of remembrance, we will have a wall of re-
membrance in November. Please write down your loved ones who have passed away on a piece of paper and drop it in the box. They will then be typed up and placed on the wall. Please complete one paper per family as names will be put together. Up to 10 names can be put on one sheet.
You can also email the names to [email protected]
Based on 59 researchers and analysts working in 35 societies across the world, studies have found that Catholic schools lead to overall higher achievement, low-er drop out rates, and higher achievement especially for dis-advantaged students. (Grace & O’Keefe, 2007)
Meditation Ministry The practice of Christian Meditation is a simple and highly meaningful practice of being one with Jesus in the silence of our hearts and minds through fo-cusing only on the special word "Maranatha" which means " Come Lord". The three elements of Chris-tian Mediation are to be simple, silent, and still. All of the information on WCCM can be found at www.wccm.org OR the Canadian website www.wccm-canana.ca Taking place at St. James Church, Okotoks on Mondays at 7:00pm beginning November 9th. Please contact Andrea @ 403-999-3398 or [email protected] to find out more and to register.

Stewardship Reflection
“…whatever you did for one of the least of my brothers, you did for me.” – Matthew 25:40
Most of us are generous when it’s convenient for us. We are generous when we have the time or the money. But, generosity is the opposite
of that. It means giving of one’s time, money, compassion, for-giveness or mercy when it’s not convenient; when it’s not on our
schedule, but on the other person’s schedule. https://www.archstl.org/about-stewardship/bulletin-inserts/weekly-bible-reflections
Mass at St. Michael’s
Due to increased numbers in attendance, pre-registration for week-end mass at St. Michael’s in Black Diamond is required.
Deadline is Fridays at 9:00am.
If you have not registered before this time, up can still go to the church and see if there is space.
Building Update
During the summer, a large hole was found in the roof membrane of the church. This was believed to be the source of leaking in the Nar-thex, therefore we brought someone in to fix it. They sealed the hole,
but when it rained again, more water had leaked into the Narthex. We brought the company back to take a look and it was discovered
that the seals for the drains came undone, therefore causing the leaks. While they sealed the drains the best they could, the recommenda-tion is to replace the drains with the proper type to avoid the same
problem from reoccurring. The cost for the initial fix was $1,036.88. We are awaiting a quote for the drains, and will share that amount
when it is received. Any donations towards the repairs of the roof would be greatly ap-
preciated.
