Latest News - Argentinean Sea Data System
Background:
The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation has been working for two years now on the idea of a National Sea Data System (SNDM)
For this reason, an Advisory Committee was appointed to determine the "what" and "how" of this future system.
To this end, two people were commissioned to participate in the IMDIS 2010 (International Conference on Marine Data and Information Systems - Paris (France), March 29-31, 2010). After this, they presented a report to the Advisory Committee with two possible systems whose technologies could be incorporated to create the SNDM Portal / System: SeaDataNet (EU) and Ocean Data Portal (IODE).

Latest News - Argentinean Sea Data System
With all the information received and inquiries made to SeaDataNet and ODP as possible providers, the Advisory Committee recommended to use the ODP technologies for the establishment of the National Sea Data System.
Besides the international scientific community benefits related to the sharing of this information, there are also local benefits as this system foresees a financing support that includes capacity building, equipment / hardware and the possibiluty of hiring data entry personnel.
