II. Seafood upgrading – BIVALVE MOLLUSCS SAFETY

� Classification & monitoring of production and relaying

areas.

� Establish a sampling programme of bivalve molluscs in

the production area.

� Audit the labs that supply services to the producers.

� Keep the methodologies updated and validated.

� Participate regularly in intercomparision exercises.

Two labs are NRL (national reference labs for bivalve

molluscs microbiological quality and for chemical

contaminants (toxic elements) in seafood)
