RTO Background
The Continuing Education Centre was established in the old high school building in Chisholm Street in 1962. It was the first community based provider of adult and community education of its kind to be established in Regional Victoria. In 2010 after some major capital works the extension to the Chisholm Street building was opened which includes a commercial kitchen, learning and multipurpose rooms and a renovated customer service area. The center celebrated 50 years in 2012. 2013 was a tumultuous year which resulted in the replacement of the management team. Since this time the Center has reduced it scope of registration and is in the process for redirecting their energies in line with the Hume Workforce Plan with the aim to support training in line with industry needs and potential job opportunities. The Centre focusses on entry level workers and creating pathways from non-accredited to accredited training and TAFE. Today the Centre provides of a range of adult education and learning opportunities including:
o Youth programs o Language and Literacy o Accredited Vocational Education Programs o Individually tailored training programs for businesses and enterprises o New Apprenticeships
