Donna and I really enjoyed our recent trip to be with family. Reflecting on how much we enjoyed our family has got me to thinking about how our church is like a family, Just like a family, we look out for one another. I see it all the time. People looking out for one another within our church family. Not in an organized fashion, but in an organic way, a natural way, folks within our church family care for one another. Just like a family, we sacrifice for one another. Again, I am blessed to see things that most church members may not be privy to - people blessing one another through gifts to help out, gifts and assistance that they provide by way of sacrificing something they could have used the money, or time, or energy on something for themselves. Just like a family, we pray for one another. I have been blessed to hear folks lift up one another and keep on lifting up one another, and keep on lifting up one another, just like a family prays faithfully for one another. Just like a family, we pull for one another. When something happens that causes someone difficulty, we are grieved with them; and when something happens that brings someone joy, we rejoice with them. And just like a family, we enjoy and celebrate the youngest among us. That's what Donna and I were privileged to do on our trip. We got to spend time with our youngest grandson, Enoch, and our youngest grand-daughter, Echo. Likewise, while we were away, our church family enjoyed and celebrated the new birth of Funto Akinmurele, who testified of her faith in Christ through being baptized on the Sunday we were away. We have a little sign in our home which reads, "Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favorite." That is true. My favorite love story is the one about how Donna and I fell in love with one another. Ask me about it sometime. I am happy to retell it. But as I have been thinking about my church, it has occurred to me that I really love our story as a church family, too. I am happy to tell others about our church family. I hope you are, too. Donna and I really enjoyed our recent trip to be with family. Reflecting on how much we enjoyed our family has got me to thinking about how our church is like a family,

Just like a family, we look out for one another.
