The Building Birmingham Scholarship programme has been developed to support talented local people from priority wards areas in Birmingham who aspire to continue studies at higher education level but may face financial hardship, are in need of help and support to reach their full potential and achieve their career ambitions and make our neighbourhoods a great place to live, learn work and visit. Birmingham City Council (BCC) works in partnership with our partner construction organisations on the Birmingham Municipal Housing Trust house building programme. 1) There are limited places and funds for the Building Birmingham Scholarship so we regret that not all applicants will be successful.
2) This is an award programme; applicants will be assessed through a short‐listing and interview process.
3) Applicants will be required to provide evidence of current financial circumstances and proof of your residency should you be shortlisted for an interview.
4) Applicants will need to provide a personal statement to support your application. 5) Applicants will be required to provide a reference from a professional person who knows
you, for example a Connexions Adviser, Teacher, Social Worker, Youth Worker etc.

BURSARY FUND (YEAR 1 ONLY)
Whether you are living independently or living with parents, the cost of living is equally important. So, if you are looking for help and support with day‐to‐day living costs, including rent, university trips or leisure activities, access to the bursary fund may be right for you.
SCHOLARSHIP FUND (YEAR 1 ONLY)
We understand the prospect of going to university and leaving with large debts may make you think twice about studying at higher education level. That is why we have created a scholarship fund that could help pay a contribution towards your tuition fees.
INTERNSHIP (YEAR 1 ONLY)
Are you looking to combine study and get some hands on experience? Internship opportunities are available for people wanting to get valuable experience during the summer. Get up to 16 weeks paid experience in between studies and ‘Earn while U Learn’!

Students can have the option between a bursary fund, partial tuition fee waiver or a combination of both, depending on which best suits and meets your circumstances and individual needs during your studies.
ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT FUND
For students who have been supported through the scholarship programme in year one, passed their first year of study and are aspiring to continuing studies at higher education. This fund can be used either to support your living costs or contribute towards tuition fees.

Access to enhanced quality information, advice and guidance about learning, development and the wide ranging career pathway opportunities available within the construction and built environment sectors.
WORK / SUMMER PLACEMENTS
Are you thinking about exploring the construction or built environment sector as a career pathway? Not too sure which profession to choose? Try a taster placement with our partner organisations to get an introduction to the world of construction and built environment sector and see what is best suited for you!
