• Troubleshooting

May 2011 APM Annual International Partners Conference 2

What We Have Now

• Current versions in use:– 3DlevelManager 2.9.890– 3DLevelScanner FW 2.9.843– Locator 1.1.5– Modem Wizard 1.0.11– 3DVision / 3DMultiVision 1.5.9

May 2011 APM Annual International Partners Conference 3

Coming Release

• Due by the end of Q2– 3DlevelManager 3.0.0– 3DLevelScanner FW 3.0.0– Locator 2.0– Modem Wizard 1.0.11– 3DVision / 3DMultiVision 1.5.22

• Note: Version numbers are subject to change

May 2011 APM Annual International Partners Conference 4

General

• Major release of firmware requires a compatible software

• The new FW has several major changes in the algorithm

• The compatible SW has less features and parameters to configure

• The parameters are set and adjusted automatically by the new algorithm in the FW

May 2011 APM Annual International Partners Conference 5

Configuration Wizard

• In step 2 – the bottom part can be asymmetrical, cone or pyramid, can be with the emptying point in any offset from the center of the vessel

May 2011 APM Annual International Partners Conference 6

Configuration Wizard

• Step 7 – removed: Media Type (Frequency) and Process condition

– In the new FW the frequency and the process condition are set automatically by the algorithm

May 2011 APM Annual International Partners Conference 7

Advanced Parameters

• Most of the configuration parameters are not available any more

• All fields are in a single tab• Removed:

– Window size– Transmission Power– Extrapolation– Grades Filter– Rates and Capacity (exist in the configuration

wizard)– CFAR sensitivity– Good SNR– Compressed pulses

• Added (moved from Extended Calibration Tab):

– Dumping Time– Offset– Material angle

May 2011 APM Annual International Partners Conference 8

3D Image

• New graphic design, similar to 3DVision• Advanced settings:

– Adding the scanner– Viewing filling and emptying points– Selecting material color– Display X, Y and Z axis– Option to save the 3D image– Various view modes– And more…

• Playing the stored 3D movie from the log files

• The installation package requires Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1

• Note: If it is not possible to install the .NET Framework the 3DLevelManager installation package will install the existing visualization

May 2011 APM Annual International Partners Conference 9

Grades Analysis

• Grades are calculated on 9 separated directional transmissions

• Additional view collects all transmissions on the same graph

• Grades Analysis and False Echoes Mapping to be executed for troubleshooting

May 2011 APM Annual International Partners Conference 10

Functions in The Tabs View

• Most of the fields were moved into the advanced configuration window:

– Dumping time– Offset– Steepest Material Slope– Historic Log

• Only two functions are left in the tabs:– Extended Calibration Tab –

False Echo Mapping

– Output Tab – Current Simulation and Output Mode

May 2011 APM Annual International Partners Conference 11

Troubleshooting

• Remote Connection It is recommended to have an option to connect to a remote

site to provide immediate support The options are:

Using 3DLinkPro – provide access to the scanners directly

Using TCP/IP – provide access to the scanners directly, requires assistance of local IT / system administrators

Using a 3G GSM USB stick – allowing to take control over the computer without the need of local IT

Taking control over the customer’s computer, by Logmein, Teamviewer, Showmypc, Webex, etc.

Troubleshooting

• Scanner Behavior1. Check and confirm the configurations with the customer and by

actual measurements (Silo dimensions, Position of Scanner and Rates)

2. Check scanner orientation3. Clean scanner (it always help even if there is small layer of dust

inside the horns)4. Upgrade to the most updated FW, reset to factory defaults and

reconfigure manually (save the configuration file and upload it as reference)

5. Follow filling and emptying processes6. Perform Grades analysis7. Based on all information an educated conclusion can be made,

for example: Further fine tuning using the Advanced Parameters False Echoes Mapping

Troubleshooting

• GPRS Communication• From the office

1. Check SIM card plan with the provider, confirm the possibility to send and receive SMS, GPRS is available and the quote / package limitation has not been reached

2. Call the SIM card number to verify an existing line3. Send SMS to the SIM card, can be to reset the LinkPro: HW MODEM

RESET

• On-Site1. Check power supply to the 3DLinkPro, confirm same power supply to

the scanners and LinkPro, check that the ratings are above 1 Ampere for the LinkPro and 120mA for each scanner, make sure there is mutual ground between the LinkPro and the scanners

2. Confirm that the RS-485 bus has two 120 Ohm resistors, one at each end of the bus

3. Use the Modem Wizard to configure and test the LinkPro and SIM card, set operation mode of the LinkPro according to the country

May 2011 APM Annual International Partners Conference 14

Troubleshooting

• RS-485 Communication Check that the connection between all scanners is Daisy chain Confirm that the cable in use is suitable for RS-485 – has 120

Ohm impedance, twisted-pair, shielded Make sure the shield is grounded on one end Two 120 Ohm resistors must be connected on the communication

lines at the ends of the RS-485 lines Make sure that all scanners have same power supply, if not all

must have the same grounding for communication reference Each scanner has a different polling address
