Attachment 1 IDEA Human Interest Stories Real life stories demonstrating successes of IDEA participants are important for encouraging young people to choose IT and employability trainings and sharing workable job search solutions in communities across Ukraine. So we regularly collect and publish individual success stories via IDEA Project Web-site – see http://www.idea-ukraine.org/success_story/ Such human interest stories as the story of Iryna Nad’ from Berehovo encourage others to follow her way and study technologies. Iryna is a young mother preparing to return to the labor market. Previously she had some experience of work with a computer. However, Iryna enrolled to the IDEA courses to improve her computer skills and use possibilities of Internet for increasing her knowledge and job search. When asked why she decided to attend IDEA classes, Iryna said - ‘I attended the IDEA courses to improve my computer skills. Digital Literacy course became an opening for me – I realized that I do not know a lot of things, and during the time that I spent at home, a lot has changed in the IT world. At the IDEA-Berehovо Center, I learned how to work with Windows 7 and Office 2007 programs. Learning how to work with the Internet search systems and use Internet for a job search was especially useful for me. At the IDEA Center, I created my electronic mailbox and already have sent out my first resume!’ http://www.idea-ukraine.org/success_story/eng/ Iryna Nad’: At the IDEA Center, I created my electronic mailbox and already have sent out my first resume!’ Another story of Dmytro Polekhin from Kryvyy Rih is also encouraging. Dmytro agreed to share his story with the hope that it would inspire other teenagers to become better. He is only 15 but he has already seriously been thinking about his future. In 2012, Dmytro took computer courses that helped him to increase his IT knowledge as one cannot succeed without it these days. Also, the boy is proud about improving his performance at school. Dmytro was enrolled for IT training at the IDEA Center thanks to an advice received from a friend of his mother. Dmytro noted - ‘During the training I learned how to create unusual sites. I learned how to work in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. I was familiar with these programs before but during the training I learned much more about them and was more confident in using these programs. Of course, the training had a positive influence at me. I started to think more often about myself, and I realised that I need to change something in my life. I managed to improve my scores at school. I am developing and I will not stop at what I have achieved!’ http://www.idea-ukraine.org/success_story/2120/ eng/ Dmytro Polekhin: I am developing and I will not stop at what I have achieved!
