2009-2010

I have read and understand thoroughly the requirements on my part to earn the grading benefits in the Spanish Advanced Placement class for the First Semester of the 2009-2010 school year. I agree to carry out all the terms of the contract, with the understanding that should I not complete all required work within the designated time frame, no exceptions shall be made, and my grade will be adjusted to no higher than 75%, provided all my other work is acceptable. Otherwise, the grade will be lowered even further. I understand the purpose of this contract, and I will take full responsibility for carrying it out thoroughly and conscientiously since it is to my advantage to do so. I also understand that this contract may be terminated at any time should Sra. Nuzzi find it necessary to do so in the best interest of the class.

THE GOAL WRITING PROCESS

From SMART to SMARTER Goals

SMART is an acronym used to guide students in the goal writing process. For the purposes of this Portfolio process, the following use of SMART as an acronym will be utilized to help you determine what defines an appropriate goal:

S – Specific (well-defined; clear to anyone that has a basic knowledge of the project)

M – Measurable (easy to determine if the goal is attained and how long it will take to attain)

A – Agreed upon (agreement with all stakeholders, i.e., teacher and student)

R – Realistic (within the availability of resources, knowledge, and time)

T – Time Based (enough time to achieve the goal, not too much time allowed for goal)

As you are writing your goals, focus on this acronym. A goal must meet all five qualifiers in order to be deemed appropriate.

While the acronym “SMART” will be used as a base to guide you in goal writing, we will bring these goals to another level by making them SMARTER. By adding Evaluation of goals at the end of each activity followed by Reflection upon those goals, you will work with goals on a much deeper level. Therefore, I encourage you to focus not just on SMART goals, but on SMARTER goals.
