Morrison’s is an Orvis-endorsed lodge with some of the finest guides available. We pride ourselves on the ability to cater to all anglers at every skill level from the total beginner child,

to the most experienced fly caster. Each anglers needs will be determined in a pre- arrival interview. This allows us to completely customize the package to you. On the Rogue River, fall Steelhead fishing is the primary attraction. The season runs from September through November with early season Steelhead fishing available on the upper river in September. This optional fly fishing water is just about an hour drive from the lodge. Our fishing season starts with the Fall Chinook Salmon run in late August through mid September and is fished with lures or bait. Coho Salmon run mid to late October through November. Coho are challenging to target and are generally encountered while fishing for Steelhead. We offer our clients many kinds of fly fishing techniques at Morrison’s, from nymphing and wading, to casting from the boat, or back trolling flies with no casting required. Most choose fly fishing although options for spinners and lures are available as well. Whatever your preference, we can accommodate your level of expertise, interest and energy. We highly recommend booking early so that we can match your preferred style of fishing with the perfect guide. If you have a specific guide request booking early is essential.

Package includes: Lodging at Morrison’s, four course gourmet dinners, breakfast, lunch, fishing equipment, waders and video analysis with our fly fishing instructors.

Fall fishing for 2008 produced some great news for the Rogue River fishery. First was the huge increase

in the number of Rogue River “half-pounders”, approx-imately 175,000 at early counts compared to 17,000 last season. Not many of the fish made the migration as far as Grants Pass, but we will see a percentage of that run return as adult steelhead in the next couple years. This should equate to a few thousand more adults in the system. Next, we saw an increase in the “mini-jacks” or two year old Chinook salmon as well. This run more than doubled since last season. The “mini-jacks” return, indicates good ocean-survival rates for spring Chinook that left the Rogue last year. These Chinook will start contributing to the river fishery next year. Both of these factors should increase the Rogue River fishery for years

to come. The river has continued to fish well and the summer steelhead have been much larger in the last few years. With anticipation of a strong run we are all looking forward to wonderful fishing season on the Rogue.
